Only the most gorgeous hunk will save fast-track photographer Carly Sullivan's job, but finding the right man isn't easy when you're on a ship in the middle of the Caribbean and the model you hired turns out to be a disaster.
With her hopes sinking faster than the Titanic, Carly spots the most beautiful man she's ever seen. Ford McKay swears he's a rancher from Wyoming, but Carly has her suspicions. Then all hell breaks loose in their island paradise and the sexy stranger is all that protects Carly from a hail of bullets.
Ford McKay knows that mixing business and pleasure can be murder, and he's not about to compromise his current mission for an obstinate redhead who can't forget her camera for a nanosecond. But when Carly is wounded, the rugged Navy SEAL can't just walk away.
As fate forces the two into excruciatingly close quarters, Ford finds his heart taking a tumble. Soon the straight-arrow SEAL discovers that with the right woman, going overboard can be unforgettable.

I didn’t enjoy the heroine, and I wanted it to be over.
STORY BRIEF: Nigel is governor of Santa Marina. He suspects bad guys may do harm to him, his daughter Daphne and her friend Carly. He hires Ford a Navy SEAL to watch over Carly, and he hires a local police chief to watch over Daphne. Carly is a photographer filming commercials on a cruise ship. The wrong model was hired, and she uses Ford as a substitute model. She doesn't know that Ford is there to watch over her. She thinks Ford is a rancher from Wyoming. Bad guys follow and shoot at Carly and Daphne. Ford is there to protect them.
REVIEWER'S OPINION CAUTION, INCLUDES SOME SPOILERS: This book was not "outrageous fun" as described on the cover. Nothing surprised or delighted me. I wasn't drawn to Carly and had trouble identifying with her. She lost one account doing one commercial and grieved as if her life were over. My gosh, there are other jobs out there, especially for someone as talented as she is. She also got angry too frequently and easily. Several scenes bothered me. They were too contrived and predictable to be entertaining. For example, when Carly first meets Ford, she offers him $500 for an hour's work. She says it in a way that implies she is buying sex, when in fact she needs a model for the commercial. His reaction and then her reaction creates conflict, with Carly then being angry and furiously stomping away. Another example is Carly asking him several times, who he was, why he was there, etc. Other than saying he was from Wyoming (which was true prior to joining the Navy), he just stayed silent saying nothing. Later when she guesses that he is military, she is furious saying he lied to her, and stomps away. The way I see it, he never lied, he just never told. This was conflict due to her inaccurate assumptions. I don't enjoy this type of conflict. I was also annoyed that Carly went to the kidnappers all alone with no weapons or tracking devices, thinking she could help, but all she did was get kidnapped as well. This is stupidity. Aside from Carly, I was a little confused about the bad guys. By the end of the book, I still didn't know much about what they were planning. I would have liked a few more details about that. Other parts of the story were ok. Ford was good.

I went out to dinner the other night. In the foyer of the restaurant was a brown paper bag that said FREE BOOKS, I scurried over and got this one. There were only three books left, which just reminded me that there are so many "book-aholics" out there. It made me smile.
This is my first time reading this author. The main characters annoyed me often but i liked them anyway. Sometimes, i had to go back and reread sections because i felt like i missed something or because the characters were suddenly someplace i didn't expect them to be. I found that most the time it wasn't me, the author had just skipped a step. This was especially apparent in sex scenes which were extremely short but frequent. There were a fair number of typos too. All this disturbed the flow for me a bit. Despite this, i liked the story. It was a nice distraction. I will seek out this author again.
This is an OK read if you're just looking for a mindless escape. BUT, you have to be able to get past the TSTL heroine. Again, not bad, but not particularly good either.
Sharp, witty dialogue is the best thing about this book. The plot is not much, the characterizations are good and funny, and the romance predictable, but it holds your attention.
I enjoyed the banter between the main characters in this book. If you are a fan of military romance stories then this is for you! You are given vivid descriptions, lots of action and mystery.
Going on a cruise as part of your mission, what more could an agent want? This agent would prefer not to be attracted to the body he is supposed to be protecting.
SEAL Ford McKay has been assigned to watch over Carolina "Carly" Sullivan and her best friend Daphne after some threats are made against Daphne's father. Carly just happens to be a photographer/videographer shooting a campaign for the cruise line and needs a male model ASAP since her scheduled model isn't as in shape as his photographs claimed.
Carly stumbles across Ford, who claims to be a rancher on vacation and does everything she can to get him onboard with her campaign.
Nothing too crazy happens until the crew leaves the ship for some dry land shooting and shots are fired, at Carly. Ford protects her at Daphne's family's home on the island after she's been injured and withdraws into herself in fear over loosing her job; but the group soon learners those aren't the only fears she should have.
Ford and Carly are so hot together they practically sizzle on page. The book is a "nothing is as it seems" story and almost everyone has some sort of secret they are hiding. This only worked to make the story line that much more interesting and thrilling.
I've also come to the conclusion, I want a Ford McKay of my own.
Carly Sullivan is a world renowned photographer and cinematographer with a huge problem. She's shooting what she is sure will be a fantastic commercial for a cruise ship company (why do all of Christina Skye's novels take place on or have a major part to play on a cruise ship).
Problem? The actor they hired is not camera-worthy. So she needs to find a fill in ... a sexy fill in.
Ford McKay was just looking for a little R&R from his SEAL days. He wasn't looking to become an actor ... or start a new job. But then Izzy calls (I love Izzy - I can't wait for his book).
McKay needs to protect Carly from an international ass who is bound and determined to take control of San Marino (where Carly's best friend and adoptive uncle rule). When she gets caught in the cross hairs, McKay will save her butt or lose his heart.
Going Overboard is a good action-romance ... more action than romance but not terrible in either category.
Love Overboard is a fun, sexy, RS light read. It is about a SEAL who is ordered to protect the adopted daughter of the head of a small Caribbean island. Carly is a TV commercial director who is finally getting a shot at doing something she can be proud of, a cruise ship commercial. Ford McKay is ordered to watch her because of death threats. McKay is not happy about the babysitting duty. The actor Carly is supposed to use turns out to be unacceptable and Carly is on the hunt on the ship for a replacement when she encounters McKay and makes him an offer he promptly refuses. He has no idea Carly is his assignment and has to apologize and grovel to get close to her.
I am a big fan of the Suzanne Brockmann SEAL series Tall, Dark & Dangerous and Troubleshooters and this series is different and just as enjoyable, a good blend of both Brockmann series. The books don't appear to need to be read in order. This one was self contained, although it looks like some characters appear in succeeding books.
(I changed my rating from a 4 to a 3.5 because it did have a hard time getting started.) This is the second in a series and a pretty good book. It started off a little slow but caught up with itself by the end. This is a story about a young lady named Carly Sullivan who was a great photographer and here she was on a cruise ship doing a commercial for the cruise line. Unfortunately, the guy that the company chose for the close ups was not exactly what they thought he was and she was left looking over the men on the ship to see if she could replace him. That was where she met Ford McKay. She did not know why McKay was on the ship but he was exactly what she was looking for and now all she had to do was convince him to help her.
The storyline is different and does get interesting later on. Nice ending with all the excitement needed.

Carly is a photographer working on an ad campaign for a cruise line. Ford McKay is a Navy SEAL on assignment--to protect Carly, but she doesn't know that when she picks him as the perfect guy for her commercials. Everything is going well...until Carly really does need protection, but she doesn't want McKay to protect her...
This is the second Christina Skye book I've read. It is better than the last with only a couple of things that bugged me. Skye was off on her timing a little near the end, but I can look past that. A few other things were a bit off, but overall the story was good and fast paced. I liked both Carly and McKay and look forward to reading more of her books.
I read Going Overboard by Christina Skye and it totally fell flat for me. Ugh. Sometimes I wish I had the propensity to DNF a book, but I very rarely do. Especially by an author I usually enjoy, which Skye is. I just didn't CARE about this book at all. The characters did nothing for me, even the Navy SEAL hero. The "suspense" wasn't really suspense because you knew what was going on from the beginning. I really wanted to like this book, but no.
it was okay. but the female character was getting on my nerves again. Christina has a problem of creating too much of a good thing. again this femal character ws a little bit too head strong for my taste. and the guy, he got on my nerves in the last chapter. i can understand why he did it, but still you don't push the one you love away.
Loved this!!! Ford McKay is super mysterious and dangerously hot and Carly is strong, beautiful, independent and fiercely loyal. They are a wonderful pair. The story was full of excitement and I was entertained the whole way through. I cannot wait to read the next one!!
A great read, quick and adventurous. I loved all the characters and believed their actions. There were a couple places where poor editing made me have to do a re-read but I got over it. Would love to read more stories about the secondary stars - especially IZZY!
Excellent read. I would love to see what happens next, but I am completely satisfied with how this book ended. I was on the edge of my seat in suspense the whole time. I loved all of the characters and I liked that the lead female was more independent than the damsel in distress.
Cute. That's the first adjective that comes to mind. It wasn't compelling by any stretch of the imagination, but the characters were nice and the story was a little different, including both romance and a bit of mystery. I'll probably read other books in the Navy SEALS series by this author.
I love this series by Christina Skye. Each story stands on it's own but when reading them all, the story is only enhanced. These are fast paced and quite edgy. In my opinion, these stories are for adult readers.
this one is a good read.. great on all the details but a little short on the romance side... the plots interesting and you are left wanting more... hope the others in the series are good enough.
