About the author

Erin Hunter is the pseudonym of five people: Kate Cary, Cherith Baldry, Tui T. Sutherland, Gillian Philip, and Inbali Iserles, as well as editor Victoria Holmes. Together, they write the Warriors series as well as the Seekers and Survivors series. Erin Hunter is working on a new series now called Bravelands.

Erin Hunter is inspired by a love of cats and a fascination with the ferocity of the natural world. As well as having a great respect for nature in all its forms, Erin enjoys creating rich mythical explanations for animal behavior, shaped by her interest in astronomy and standing stones.

I like this book because there was a cat named Dustpelt and he was a apprentice and he said to use a battle move called the Lightning Strike to fight a group of shadowclan warriors and told it to Tigerclaw the thunderclan deputy and so they did it. Dustpelts plan worked! I also like this book because it was about Skyclans sky drop and it was funny because they had to climb a very high tree and then when a cat had gone under it, they would drop from the top of the tree and then they had to land on top of your enemy and then you got to fight. But the really funny part is that if you don’t land on top of your enemies head, then they would think it’s raining cats!

Dit is een leerzaam en interessant boek om te lezen. Je wordt doorheen het boek aangesproken door verschillende clankatten alsof je zelf een poesiepoes bent. Deze katten vertellen je verhalen over de 5 Clans en geven uitleg over de verscheidene gevechtstechnieken. Het is leuk om zo meer te weten te komen over gevechten die in het verleden plaatsvonden en dus ook over de geschiedenis van de clans. Dit boek bestaat dus eigenlijk uit verschillende kortverhalen, die stuk voor stuk interessant waren om te lezen. Over het algemeen mis je wel niks van de serie als je dit boek niet zou lezen, het is eerder een fijne toevoeging voor de echte Warrior Cats fans. Wat ik zelf een groot pluspunt vond aan dit boek: de illustraties! Ze zijn echt prachtig! Ik heb dit boek in één keer uitgelezen en heb er van genoten. Als je je meer wilt verdiepen in het verleden van de krijgskatten is het zeker een aanrader!

This is a solid collection of some of the more notable battles from the Warriors world.

In it, we get a few more perspectives on these battles than we did in the main stories. Also, we some insight into some of the earlier battles amongst the clans that are referenced in the main stories but not directly explained. We see many cats that predeceased the characters in the very first series.

If you enjoy the side stories and novellas we’ve gotten for the cats, then you’d probably enjoy this collection~

I decided to read this because I recently got back into the Warriors saga and I am trying to read every single book.

This was a great book that describes each clan's fighting techniques. There are also a few new stories about warriors from all four clans, centered on battles. There was a story about Blackstar that made me see him in a different light. I respect him a little bit, just a little, more.

Overall, I highly recommend to Warriors fans. If you're new to the series, you might want to read a few books before this one.

Alles van Warrior Cats trekt mijn aandacht en wil ik lezen. Zo ook dit boek waarin gevechten worden besproken. Ik vond het eerst wel spannend om te gaan lezen, omdat ik nog niet alle Warrior Cats boeken heb gelezen, maar ik had het idee dat het aantal spoilers wel mee viel, omdat de meeste gevechten lang geleden plaatsvonden of in serie 1 en 2 (die ik wel helemaal gelezen heb).

In het boek wordt je aangesproken alsof jij een poesiepoes bent die komt kijken bij de Clans. Meerdere leiders van Clans geven je een rondleiding op een bepaalde plek en vertellen over het verleden. Het boek bestaat uit vijf delen: technieken & strategieën, de slagvelden, beroemde gevechten, in het heetst van de strijd en de nasleep.

In bijna elk deel komen alle Clans aan het woord. Dat vond ik heel fijn, zo leren we namelijk de andere Clans naast de DonderClan goed kennen. Heel erg leuk dat er ook veel aandacht was voor de HemelClan. De verhalen over de gevechten worden ondersteund door enkele illustraties.

Ik vond het een leuke toevoeging, maar als je het niet leest, mis je ook niks in de echte serie. Het is echt een boekje voor erbij. De mini-avonturen vind ik meer een toevoeging aan de serie. Maar zoals ik al eerder zei, is dit wel goed te gebruiken om de andere Clans ook te leren kennen.

younger me would have been OBSESSED with this. like the added information makes the warriors world building 10x more real and sm cooler. I absolutely love the little graphics and the photos and the little characters that we all loved so much in the books guide us along our own journey (not to mention the flashbacks!!).

giving this a 3 though because it didn't captivate me as much as 4-5 star books do

This was so charming, like a how-to guide for warrior cats roleplay for kids. The framing may not make much sense (Onestar graciously showing you, the reader, around and sharing secret battle techniques), but it’s so earnest about it. No clue which Erin wrote the short stories sprinkled throughout, but the prose has a sharpness to it that a lot of the mainline books don’t have.

And of course, the additional illustrations from McLoughlin are fabulous.

Reread July 18, 2021 - September 9, 2021.

Finally finished this one! Man, I had to slog through this one. There was nothing wrong with it really, I just found it very repetitive and not as engaging as some. We see some battle moves, we get to see them in action, rinse and repeat. I did like the snippets of info regarding the actual techniques (physically impossible as they may be.... the Reverse Climb is one such case LOL) but I felt there were too many similar battles described in the book and it kinda fatigued me by the end. It didn't help that they jumped around to so many different eras, it was hard to keep track of who was telling which story.

That said, it definitely was nice to see the world fleshed out a tiny bit more once again. As disorienting as the constant switching of timelines was, it's a very valuable tool in pinpointing certain events throughout the series (despite the many continuity errors, lmao). I will probably revisit this one in the future to use as reference for writing, but I can't see myself reading it again just for the fun of it. I'd much rather read something with more of an overarching narrative. It's funny, the whole point of Warriors is that they fight for glory or whatever but it's one of the least interesting parts of the series, in my opinion. I prefer the soap opera stuff from the main series.

Ah well, they can't all be winners! I'm just glad I finally made it through this one so I can get back on track with my reread. I'm gonna give it my best to finish before A Light in the Mist comes out Nov 9th, so that gives me 61 days to read 46 more books, at time of writing. Wish me luck!

I have been quite interested in reading the Warriors Field Guides for a while. I just love the concept of the reader interacting with the characters, learning about the lore from them and experiencing the world by him or herself. This book had all of that, plus it also had a compilation of short, entertaining stories about the history and traditions of the Clans.

So, why three stars? While it was a really enjoyable book and I had a fantastic time reading it, it also had an awful lot of mistakes. You would think that, being a Warriors fan, I would be used to this kind of things, and I generally am, but there were so many of them in this book I started getting uneasy halfway through it and by the end I just couldn't make myself give it the four stars I would have given it if it wasn’t for that inconvenience. It didn't completely ruin the book for me, happily, but I still think that if there’s a book in this series that desperately needs editing, it is this one.

The guided tours around the territories were probably my favorite part of the book. They were short, sadly, but they were still full of personality and I couldn't help loving them. They were in second person POV, which was a rare and original format I greatly appreciated.

The short stories were between regular and amazing. The ones featuring apprentices were especially fun to read and I’ll probably revisit them in future (Dustpaw's and Mistystar's were incredibly sweet!). Some of them were on first person POV, and while I think the writers should stick to the regular third person, I liked reading them, it was a wave of fresh air.

Some other parts of this book include battle moves from every Clan and some Clan history (I almost cried when my baby Gray Wing was mentioned, by the way. I feel like a proud mother now). There were well-thought and clever, I just wish there were used more in the actual books.

Battles of the Clans was fun to read, and thanks to it now I’m looking forward to reading other Field Guides. It was a light, interactive and engaging read and definitely worth anyone’s time.

I have read all the warrior books except a couple of comics and the like,so yeah,I'm a big warrior fan. But when I saw this,I didn't really expect it would be that great,I expected a bunch of battles slashed together.
I certainly was wrong. This book is narrated by several characters in the books,from Onestar to Tigerclaw. It starts as Onestar welcomes you to his camp and tells you he will show you the clans battle lore. For some reason he takes you first to the other clans but oh well.
One thing I liked about this book is that like the other field guides,this one has a story where you are a character being shown around.But this one gets better as at one point Tigerclaw interrupts and shows you the old forest.
This book does talk about many battles,most of them are brand new.
It's also very updated,showing Mistystar as the new leader.
A must have for every Warrior fan.

Warriors Batlle of the clans was a really interasting book. It talk about many of the great battles the cats had. Even from parts that were not told in the books. And i can tell, I have read all the books in the series up to the new ones. The series is interesting and there is not just one main character, the main characters change throught the series. and my favorite character is the beguning cat named Rusty. his name changed when he entered the clan through rankings. Firepaw- when he just entered the clan he was an apprentice and all aprentices end in paw. Fireheart- he was a warrior which was a the regular rankng for grown cats. Firestar- he became the leader of his clan and the names all end in Star. So there are a lot of little stories in this book. talking about the past and present. The warriors series is really one of my favorite.

This is the Dutch edition of Warriors: Battles of the Clans These field guides are always interesting to read as back ground info or to add information where in the main series isn't a lot about to find. There are just so many books in and beside the series to read.
This one talks about the different battles (the important ones, the sad ones...), but also about every clans fighting techniques. In this story you, as a reader, are a normal house cat who is guest in the clans, accompagnied by other house cats. Every clan tells stories and as a normal cat you get an insight in the Clans. The most touching and heartbreaking story was the one about Lionpaw.

Battles of the Clans is by Erin Hunter and I thought this book was amazing.It's about different cats that narrate many battles against different clans in Warrior World history.Some battles were against predators like foxes and badgers.Most of them were against different cat clans.This book also talks about secrets of the clans like special battle tactics or how they attack and ambush.Onestar is a cat who narrates most of the book and tells many different things among the clans and between them.Overall,this book will make you want to read it over and over again!I recommend this book!!!

The novel Battles of the Clans by Erin Hunter is an action-packed story informing the reader about the fighting techniques of each clan, including the long lost Skyclan. It also includes never before seen events in battles of each Clan, either never told before or told through the books of the main series of Warrior Cats. I would rate 10/10 IGN, would recommend to all your cat loving, action loving friends.

When it was time for the battle it was really interesting to find out who was going to win out of all these clans because it it really hard to choose from. The best part of this book, imo, is when we got some pov from Shadowclan. We definitely need a lot more of it not only because they are my favorite clan, but also because I feel like Shadowclan gets so unfairly hated and characterizied by the other Clans.

Which is also why I like how in this book it shows not every action of the other clans are so honorable. For example, Windclan waltzing into Thunderclan territory to steal prey when Thunderclan was weak and tired from hunger, ignoring the leader's request for mercy and just straight up taking advantage of Thunderclan and of how Thunderclan stole territory from Skyclan who needed it to feed their clan during leafbare, especially since Twolegs had already destroyed half of their territory, and we ultimatley know Skyclan's fate.

Overall, a good back that gave us a little more details and specific pov of certain characters during previous battles and a bit of new info regarding the clans such as their battle tactics. As always, another nice addition to the Warriors series.

Do you want to know how warrior cats fight? If so, then you should read this book! It has tons of interesting facts about each clan's battle moves, and also stories about famous battles. I learned tons of new things from the book, like for example, do you know which water-combat moves Riverclan uses? You could find out by reading this book! The stories were okay, but not actually the best. Also, there are some big mistakes in this book. But overall, it was good. This book is perfect for people who like the series Warriors.

I loved this one!!! learning about all of the techniques and tricks used in battles brought back so many clan fight memories wow

I found some explanations to be dull and boring in their execution as they told you the story rather than showed you the story. however, had to give it at least three stars for one maneuver that literally cats jump on your head out of trees so it looks like it’s raining cats. I actually laughed out loud at that one.

It was a fun book. But I didn’t enjoy it as much as the main stories or some of the mini or super editions.
Some stories were fun.
What I didn’t liked the most were the first person writing styles. Its just not the way I like to read a story. But thats personal sow I can imagine that you can read past that. :)))
Also, I hoped there was a little bit more about medicine cats about battle. That would have been very interesting!

This book is incredibly put together and takes you on a travel throughout the warriors world of battles and wars taken place in different clan with different perspectives from each individual clan!
It is incredibly helpful if you’re attempting to catch up or refresh your memory of what has happened in past books and just in general!

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone avid warrior cat reader!! ✨❤️

My favorite field guide EVER! Battles are a major part of Clan life, but honestly I feel like they are looked over sometimes, especially in the latest two arcs. This book, however, explores every facet of fighting and battle in the Clans, even SkyClan, which I'm really happy was included in this field guide. If you are a Warriors fan, you should absolutely read this book!

Very exciting and a good insight into the monumental yet overlooked battles of the Clans! There were a ton of Easter eggs in this book that only true Warriors fans will spot! I also loved how you were reading as if the characters were speaking to you as if you were a kittypet- that was a really creative and unique touch to this story. Definitely a must read for Warriors fans

I loved this one!!! So much better than Code of the Clans. I loved experiencing the battles from all different perspectives and even seeing them through the eyes of the paws. Great read. Highly recommend and, as always, WARRIOR CATS RULE!!!!
