A bestselling author of erotic romance, Amanda Young penned her first romance at eighteen. That novel was promptly deleted before it could traumatize innocent readers. After several years of honing her craft, Amanda went on to receive her first publishing contract in 2006.

A vivid imagination and a passion for all the things that go bump in the night has led Amanda to create provocative stories that push boundaries and dare readers to expand their comfort zones. Since she tends to write whatever strikes her fancy, her novels fall into many different subgenres. Among her available titles you’ll find contemporary and paranormal settings, gay and straight themes alike.

Amanda Young lives in Virginia with her husband, daughter, and two pampered pooches. When she’s not writing, she can usually be found chasing after a mischievous toddler or daydreaming about the characters in her next book. She loves to hear from her readers, and can be found on Facebook and Twitter. Her website, www.amandayoung.org, is where you can find up-to-date information on all of Amanda’s current and upcoming releases.

I was enjoying this until the POV switched to Doug for the last chapter. Screw Doug, Max doesn’t need him! And the sex scene was so full of euphemisms. I don’t really want to read about meaty knobs and rods, or turgid lengths.

I enjoy this short story so much for one reason: It's about a couple who have been together for 5 years, secretly, -- and when things get blown up they actually talk about it. Really talk, assessing their feelings and what they will do with it. I love that *sigh*.

This was a sweet little story.
Emotional and it felt complete despite its very short length.
The blurb is a good summary. Max and Doug have been a couple, in love and together for 5 years, although deeply closeted teachers.
Max is outed and it doesn't look like Doug is going to choose Max, but instead stay and keep his life, while Max has to move on, without him.

“Max wanted to hate the man for his turning his back on what they’d shared. Instead, sorrow swelled inside him. Doug was trapped inside a hell of his own making, fear and anger clouding his judgment, and there was nothing Max could do to change it.”

I liked the start of the book - the aftermath of an incident, how Max is dealing with it, who exposed Max, what will Max's lover, Doug, do about Max having to leave town to get a new job.
I would have liked a bit more discussion in the second half, especially after Doug comes back. This moved the story away from OK for me.

It's short, there's talk about the situation, then suddenly it's resolved for sex, then over. Started ok, serious discussion and I got both povs, but then it felt point made over, rather than the characters fully dealing or making further plans.

Max is ready to move to Maryland where he has a new teaching job waiting. Doug has been avoiding Max like the plague even though Doug is the unidentifiable person in the scandalous pictures. There comes a time where one has to choose love or the closet and Doug waited way too long in my opinion. Doug should have been there as soon as the shit hit the fan.

Too short and not enough time to really develop and understand the characters. I feel this story had potential if given the chance but I was disappointed by the brevity of story and superficiality of characterization.
