Jayna Baas (pronounced as in “baa, baa, black sheep”) is the award-winning author of the For Liberty & Conscience series and serves as director of The Christian PEN: Proofreaders and Editors Network. She writes and edits from beautiful northern Michigan, where she strives to give readers faith-filled adventures bursting with courageous characters and biblical truth.

In between writing her own books or editing other people’s books, Jayna seeks out new adventures on the screen, on the page, and in the kitchen. She also loves to spend time with her great family of real people and the family of pretend people who live in her head. (Yes, she does know her characters are not real. No, she does not

That's not to say I've finished all the books I've worked on simultaneously! Right now I'm trying to focus on one book at a time, but that hasn't kept me from writing short stories and brainstorming about the next book in my trilogy. After all, I do have to plan ahead, don't I? ;)(less)

Book Review of Scars of the Revolution by Megan Soja

A richly detailed story of faith and love put to the test against the backdrop of the Revolution.

My rating: ★★★★

Megan Soja weaves another richly detailed story of faith and love put to the test against the backdrop of the Revolution in Boston.

As with Megan’s other books, her research shines through on every page, especially as Boston prepares for the Battle of Bunker Hill and her characters

“The truth will hold its own.”
Jayna Baas, Preacher on the Run

“All you want is power. Power and control. And we want freedom. On every front. It’s every man’s birthright, the freedom to make his own
choices before God. Freedom for you to accept God or reject Him. His truth, His forgiveness, His righteousness. Your choice, because He created you free. Just like every other person ever born.”

“The truth will hold its own.”
Jayna Baas, Preacher on the Run

“The first business of a story is to be a good story. When Our Lord made a wheel in the carpenter shop, depend upon it: It was first and foremost a good wheel.

Don’t try to ‘bring in’ specifically Christian bits: if God wants you to serve him in that way (He may not: there are different vocations) you will find it coming in of its own accord.

Any honest workmanship (whether making stories, shoes, or rabbit hutches) can be done to the glory of God.”
C.S. Lewis

“When I have a little money, I buy books; and if I have any left, I buy food and clothes.”
Desiderius Erasmus Roterodamus

“I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.”
C.S. Lewis
