Dave Walsh was once the world's foremost kickboxing journalist, if that makes any sense. He's still trying to figure that one out.

The thing is, he always loved writing and fiction was always his first love. He wrote 'Godslayer' in hopes of leaving the world of combat sports behind, which, as you can guess, did not exactly work. That's when a lifelong love of science fiction led him down a different path.

Now he writes science fiction novels about far-off worlds, weird technology and the same damned problems that humanity has always had, just with a different setting.

I have enjoyed the last couple in the Trystero series, "finishing" with "Severed Galaxy" which leaves many strands left waving in the breeze (an inside reference)... When can we expect volume 5? It seems the more I persevered with the series, the more gripping it got... and yeah, there are place in the earlier novels that could have been shortened a little, but have been more than amply rewarded by hanging in there...

My approach to the series was to align better with what everyone else was doing and selling, which is certainly... an approach, but not one that works well for me always. Broken Ascension was important to establish characters, setting, tone and lay the groundwork for a lot of the metaphor woven through the series. Being an author is expensive and there's a lot of risk/reward baked into it. Getting a book into a reader's hands is inordinately expensive, which is why you see a lot of authors churning out 9+ books in a series. I promise that's not something I plan on doing, as I just have too many ideas to want to lament in one place for too long or drag anything out beyond its shelf life.

I'm not a huge planner, but I have a somewhat solid plan in place for where this series goes before wrapping up. If I can do that in one more volume I'm not sure. As you said, lots of strands to be addressed. Right now I'm working on Andlios 4, which I should have ready for late February/early March. After that is Trystero 5, which means anywhere from May to June, depending on how chaotic life is in the next few months (I had to take a lot of Nov/Dec off due to my kids being home and wife working while finishing up her school).

Just started Broken Ascension. I am looking forward to reading the Trystero Trilogy and to passing them on to my son. In my copy there is a duplicate paragraph in Chapter 7, page 80. There's not much to see," Gentar said. "Triinal is harsh, cold, and just rocks. House Lazaar live in metal domes and mine for gems there." Strike the first paragraph and keep the second.?
