Shirley writes edgy and evocative stories, perpetually fueled by coffee and the music of Evanescence. The Spice Queen of Philippine literature, her worlds are in a deliciously dark cross-section of the neo-noir, action, contemporary, sci-fi, and fantasy genres. Her background in various Asian martial arts inspires a lot of her work.

Her first book is the collection 'Black Cat and other poems,' while 'Befallen' is her first full-length novel. She also writes for younger audiences, in MG as Shirley Parabia and YA as Shirley Siaton Parabia.
