I grew up knowing family is paramount. I was blessed to spend time with extended family daily, not just on holidays or weekends. Because of those close-knit familial bonds, every day was full of love and laughter, food and fun.

Life took me away from that extended family for twenty years before I finally made it back. And while I'd done my best to keep the traditions alive across the miles, I realize there truly is no place like home.

Through my fiction, I share those traditions and the importance of relationships with you. Mystery or suspense, romance or mainstream, sci-fi or thriller—in my stories, family (however you define it) is paramount.

I don't really get writer's block. There are days I know what I want to say but can't figure out the right way to say it, but that's different than not knowing what to say at all. When that happens, I just write poorly. I can always clean up bad writing later. For people who don't know what to say at all? Well, I'd say write anything. Write gibberish if you have to. Eventually that will turn into crappy words, which will turn into something better. And then you'll have a story, which you can then go back and edit later. Who knows? The gibberish may end up being fodder for your next story, anyway.(less)

Gratitude and Greetings

Ciao, amici! Just wanted to handle a bit of business before wrapping up for the year. Annual Cookie Exchange I wanted to take a moment to thank all the bakers who participated in this year’s annual cookie exchange. Everything looks DELICIOUS! This book takes place shortly after the ending of the last one. I love that the beginning and end are bookended by Pendergast and Constance taking a trip to the Tibetan monastery where he learned some of his most extraordinary abilities. I especially ...more

There seem to be smaller series inside the Pendergast story world, and book 7 (most likely?) wrapped up a trilogy centered on Pendergast’s family.

What a ride.

In the fifth book of the Pendergast series, the mystery spans two continents and involves the “locked room” trope. It was a joy to spend so much time in Italy, and I really liked Vinnie’s developing arc.
