There's no such thing. If the current story isn't flowing, work on another one for a bit. Plumbers don't get plumber's block. Writers write.

However, I do have tips for keeping the mind engaged or warming up the brain juice. One is to write a 26-word story in which each word starts with the next letter of the alphabet. Or write a microfiction inspired by a favorite song title.(less)

Read. Look at how your favorite authors build sentences, craft paragraphs, introduce characters, describe action.

Write. There's no other way. Sit your ass in the chair and write. Keep writing.

Finish what you start. Don't get distracted. Don't get discouraged. Tell your story all the way to end.

Find a writing/critique group that is positive in its approach, realistic in its appraisals, and talented in their writing and editing. (less)

new dogz, new trickz

Tim Taylor’s new series hits the ground running, with snark and mystery and action. More snark. And he takes the cliched “let’s kill Hitler” time travel story and mixes in shenanigans to create something new under the sun.

Matthew M. Bartlett
“I drove on, and between the north and southbound lanes a construction crew worked under daylight-bright industrial lamps. I saw them through a gauzy fog of dust and strong light...they wore blood-red vests and hardhats and massive goggles, and as the road sank I saw that the workers were bone thin, with skeletal jaws and long teeth. They labored on platforms over gaping holes in the earth, and among the men, piled atop rickety pallets, lolled babies, piles of them, in ashy cerements. I could not tell whether the crew was excavating or burying them.”
Matthew M. Bartlett, Gateways to Abomination
