"I am learning so much about conversations and technology through this book. because of this book, I slowed down my audiobook speed to 1.5x instead of the 2x I would usually listen to. I put down my phone face down and muted during my team meeting today and contributed to a wonderful conversation I would probably not have been interested otherwise. I also realized of a mistake I made in a conversation with my husband" Mar 09, 2026 04:09PM

“I'll go." said Harold. Everyone stared at him.
"What? I'm a yellow belt in Krav Maga." he said. "My survival skills are second to none."
"How is making paper swans going to help?" asked Rona, wrinkling her forehead.
Midge blinked, "Krav Maga is a martial art, used by the Israeli military, I believe you're thinking of origami.”

“Who cares what word you use? Some aunts are completely irrelevant, and some aunts have been there since the day their niece was born. I had one grandmother I never saw and one who, when she died, I cried for three days. The word isn’t what matters. It’s the specific relationship.”

“Now they were as strangers; nay, worse than strangers, for they could never become acquainted. It was a perpetual estrangement.”
Evie Woods, The Lost Bookshop

“She still ached for every version of Frances. But to love Frances was to be always saying goodbye to the girl Frances used to be and falling in love again with the girl Frances was becoming. She missed every Frances she had known. But oh, this Frances. This lanky, gangly, whip-smart Frances, with her ears pierced and a Cyndi Lauper T-shirt on, this Frances was a gift Joan would one day miss, too.”

“Just then, I felt something I hadn’t experienced in a long time. It was like my heart was smiling.”
