Once you start checking into royalties, printing fees, marketing, etc, you'll be surprised how little is left unless you sell thousands of books. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't write your book. Write because that's what you like doing and feel inspired in doing it. (less)

Another concept I learned in a writing seminar was to look at your main character and write down every inconceivable plot twist that could happen to them... they get hit by a meteor, abducted by space aliens, stalked by a prince, discover they're adopted. You get the idea. Once you do that, you'll be amazed by the good ideas that come out of it. And remember, you don't have to write in a straight line, jump a chapter ahead if you're stuck.(less)

I love the concept of this book because it reminds kids of the joy of getting outside and enjoying nature on a walk. The main character takes the time to slow down, look around, and notice things he might miss if he were distracted by a phone.

Michael Stafford Christine. I just read 'The Last Train To Paradise' by Les Standiford. A beautiful account of Henry Flagler's great railway across the Florida Keys. Also getting ready to read 'Where the Crawdads Sing' and 'The Silent Patient.' I just need more time since the writing of the second book in the The Darkness Trilogy, entitled 'Oblivion's Storm' has begun. Look forward to our blog whenever you decide to get it done. M
