My poor mom was always bombarded with my grouching and complaints whenever she presented me with another writing assignment, but she always believed I possessed the capability to write.

After a series of events which combined with an idea that wouldn't cease pestering me, I got over my anti-writing attitude, asked Mom for help on how to begin, and set about writing a story which I hope to someday publish (the first draft will never, ever see the light of day again. (less)

"This is probably the hardest book review I've ever written.

I so badly wish that I could rate this 5-stars and just say it was amazing and move on.

But I can't.

Because the author decided to include multiple explicit and graphic sex scenes in a book she" Read more of this review »

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”
C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

“Friendship ... is born at the moment when one man says to another "What! You too? I thought that no one but myself . . .”
