"
4✨"Of Blood and Aether" felt more like a prequel overall.
The main focus was on establishing the relationship between Arken and Kieran, which was quite interesting, or would be, if I expected to read purely a romance book, not a romantasy/fantasy.
We ...more "

"I don't know how to explain this, but this still feels like a bit of a prequel to the main story. We're not bothering too much with the worldbuilding and overall conflict that was suggested in the prologue and instead establishing the relationship between the FMC and MMC but I'm not mad? OK, if we DO get to the said conflict at the end of this and in the next book, then I won't be mad😅" — Jan 02, 2025 05:40AM

“Are you preparing for another war, Plutarch?" I ask.
"Oh, not now. Now we're in a sweet period where everyone agrees that our recent horrors should never be repeated," he says. "But collective thinking is usually short-lived. We're fickle, stupid beings with poor memories and a great gift for self-destruction. Although who knows? Maybe this will be it, Katniss.”

“She recognized the way he was looking at her. It was how she’d once looked at Altan. It was the way she’d seen Daji look at Riga—that look of wretched, desperate, and reproachful loyalty. It said, Do it. Take what you want, it said. I’ll hate you for it. But I’ll love you forever. I can’t help but love you. Ruin me, ruin us, and I’ll let you.”
