My Thoughts

I started the journey with Nicci backwards in April in book 1 To My Senses after reading book 2 Recovery earlier in March of 2011. Now at last have come full circle with book 3 Sacrifice and what a journey it has been!
Between the intrigue, the mystery, the passionate love affairs that Nicci engages in and the narrow escapes from death that she encounters along the way this series is not lacking in excitement nor is it lacking in emotional depth.
Once again the visceral reaction that the reader experiences as Nicci uncovers secret after secret while keeping her innermost secrets to herself from everyone else who cares for her is dead on dramatic and the suspense will keep you turning those pages until the last sentence is read.
I can only say that this is a series that will be enjoyable for those who love romantic suspense and mysteries interwoven within different plot lines for each major character. It is hard to define what measures one will take to achieve their dreams but when you meet Nicci and follow her path from book 1 to this last you will hope that all her dreams come true in the end but to find out if they did you will need to read for yourself!
The books take place for the most part in my favorite town, New Orleans. This is a New Orleans though that has been ravaged by the savagery of Hurricane Katrina and even though her dress is tattered and torn NO is still the undisputed "belle of the ball"!
I would suggest you read in order but even if you do not read the first and second book in the series the author incorporates the major plot points of the books into the third in a way that brings the reader up to speed for those who have not read anything else and does a good unobtrusive recap for those who have.

"PULSING WITH HEART-POUNDING SUSPENSE AND ROMANTIC THRILLS!"

Nicci Beauvoir has been through a traumatizing ordeal that most women may not be able to handle, mentally or physically. However, through her incredible strength and inquisitive mind, she continues her mission to resolve haunting issues to give her eternal peace. She sets out on a mission, despite the danger involved to put all the pieces together in a mysterious puzzle. She returns to her beloved hometown in New Orleans to attend a wedding as her heart begins to pound, after gazing at a familiar figure strolling through Jackson Square, was it her first love, or her imagination? Who was charged with murder for killing David, and why was Michael hated? Can Nicci bury the horrifying events that took place three years ago, or will it haunt her forever? How long can she hide secrets from Dallas, and will she ever marry him? How did Nicci meet Dallas, and can she trust Simon? What sacrifice must she take to finally demolish the nightmare she's lived so long in order to know the true meaning of happiness? Alexandrea Weis, a Master storyteller takes the reader on an unforgettable journey, filled with twists-and-turns from beginning to end, made for the movie screen. I highly recommend this intriguing book to all romance suspense lovers. One could feel the warm Southern breezes in a picture-perfect setting of New Orleans, the action-packed story that becomes a deadly thriller has you biting your nails throughout, and the heroine is a woman we shall remember long after the book is closed. How far will Nicci go, and what price will she pay? Is Dallas in danger, and what does he do to protect Nicci? The reader will admire the dynamic personalities of the characters in this gripping tale that will satisfy your curiosity one-hundred percent! "SACRIFICE" is as entertaining as NO MERCY, as thrilling as PRESUMED INNOCENT, and as compelling as REVENGE, with Kevin Costner.

Sacrifice is the final book in the Nicci Beauvoir series. Thank you Alexandrea for sending this book for review.
Sacrifice

Synopsis:

Nicci and August return to New Orleans for Nicci’s cousin’s wedding. During the wedding Nicci recalls seeing s David who supposedly died. No one believes that she saw him except for her uncle Lance. She is sent to a therapist but little does she know the plans that Simon Laroy has for her or what truly happened to David? Nicci accepts the mission but things do not go as planned. Will Nicci be able to accept her life after this mission? Will she find what she is looking for?

My Thoughts:

I loved this book. There were so many unexpected twists and turns in this story. One never knew what would happen next. The only lull in the story was in the middle of the story. I felt that I wanted to know what was happening next sooner. Overall this was an enjoyable read.

What kind of thriller do you enjoy? I love thrillers that keep you guessing. I like the action to be clear and concise. Tome this is a sign of good writing. I can’t wait to read the next books by Alexandrea Weis.

This book is perfect for those who have read the series or are looking for a romantic mystery. Nicci is a dynamic character, she can be caring, inquisitive, and secretive. That last characteristic might get her into trouble, however. When she unearths her past lover, David's killer, she thinks she might finally get some rest and peace. She is not that lucky. Though she has found another love interest in Dallas, David may still come back to haunt her.

When she believes she sees David in a crowd, Nicci decides to stop at nothing to uncover the actual secret behind his demise. To do so, however, requires that she join forces with Simon, David's past boss, who is secretive and powerful himself. Nicci hides all of her secrets from Dallas, which may not be the best start to their relationship. Can Nicci discover David's secrets while still keeping Dallas?

This book was fast-paced and fun to read. It helps to have read the first two, though the author does a good job of filling the reader in. The romance between Nicci and Dallas is sweet and believable. The action rendered the story intriguing and hard to put down. This book is recommended to adult readers.

I haven't read any mystery/romances in a while, but this one might get me started again. This is the third book in this series, but if you haven't read the other two you won't be lost. The author deftly catches new readers up without annoying the people that have read the other books :-)

From the opening scene, I was interested in the characters and the story. Nicci finds herself at her cousins wedding being harrassed by her family to marry Dallas. Nicci loves him but can't committ. Mainly because she is still in love with David . . . who has been dead for three years. This obviously complicates things. It's pretty hard to compete with someone that's dead and gone. Her character is in a battle with her emotions, heart and mind. Add in some intrigue and betrayal and the story is complete.

I read Sacrifice pretty quickly because I really wanted to find out what was going to happen. An entertaining book with a lot of great characters. I'll be interested to see where the next book takes Nicci.

The action, adventure and intrigue continues in the third book of the Nicci Beauvoir series. Just when I thought everything was figured out and settled, a man from Nicci's past appeared to throw everything into complete turmoil again. I was completely intrigued by the story, captivated by the chain of events, and enthralled with the conflict, wanting to keep my kindle glued to my hands flipping pages until the end.

My issue with this story was something that I first noticed in Recovery, but it either got worse in Sacrifice or I just had a lower tolerance for it while reading (it's really probably the latter). I felt like Nicci had too many deep philosophical insights for a New Orleans debutante turned nurse turned writer, even for being a writer, she felt too philosophical for me at times. It just started to get on my nerves, but maybe I wasn't in a philosophical state of mind while reading.

Overall it was a great book full of action and suspense, and some hot sex scenes. I would definitely recommend it to romantic mystery/thriller fans.

Sacrifice by Alexandrea Weis is the third book in the Nicci Beauvoir series, after To My Senses and Recovery. Nicci has been through hell and back starting with the murder of her fiancee, artist David and ending with...well I am not going to tell you that. Just let me say that I love this series even though I did not read the first one. I was easily able to figure out what was going on. All of the books in this series can be read as stand alone novels. The story takes the reader along for the ride through mystery, intrigue, greed, murder plus a glimpse of post Katrina in New Orleans. If you love a great mystery then this is the series for you. Alexandrea has several new novels to be published this year, the first of which is called Broken Wings. She also has a previous series called The NOLA Series of which I intend to read. I highly recommend the work of Alexandrea and I look forward to reading more of her work.

In Sacrifice Nicci Beauvoir must face her old love’s dark past and try not to get killed in the process.

This book is perfect for lovers of mysteries with a bit of romance. The heroine is no wilting violet and has no problem facing danger head on; especially to protect the ones she loves.
Sacrifice is a deadly thriller that will draw you into its pages full of mystery and intrigue. The story is told with vivid detail and tons of excitement that will have you biting your nails and anxiously turning each page in anticipation.

Get lost in a world of mystery and intrigue in “Sacrifice” by ALexandrea Weis.

I liked this one but I think I would have liked it better if I had read the 1st in the series and gotten to know David better. As it was, although I loved the characters,I didn't like David as much as Nicci did. It was a minor point though what was great was the conflicts between Nicci and David and Nicci and Dallas. All three of them made some decisions that weren't bound to go well, just like in RL. Also like the New Orleans setting.

I love this this entire series! The characters have depth and are convincing. The story is believable and extraordinary in detail. I felt I knew exactly where every scene took place. This series is a nail biter and you will not believe the ending! This is definately a series you can read multiple times and still find fresh approaches to the relationships and the storyline.

This was a crazy fantastic ending for Nicci. Lots of secrets come up and she is put on the spot to now play spy. But as more secrets are unveiled and turns and twists pop up nothing goes as planned. After everything she's been through can she finally find peace. I am so in love with this series!!! What a wonderful, emotional and intense journey. An absolute must read!!!

Truly mysterious and surprising

This book in the series has a lot of twists, turns and unexpected surprises. David's killer has been found but not every detail of his death is adding up. Dallas keeps trying to force Nicci's hand in marriage but she just can't marry Dallas when her heart still belongs to David. What will Nicci do when she finds out that David May still be alive?
