Are you ready to roll?
Aside from the prologue which is set seven months in the past, Extinguished picks right up where Burned left off. Many of you know that Kaylea Cross is a real asset when it comes to writing military romantic suspense novels. With Extinguished she has added yet again a great installment to her Titanium Security series. Extinguished takes us from Baltimore, USA via Landstuhl, Germany to Peshawar, Pakistan and finally to the dangerous Spin Ghar mountains in Afghanistan where the showdown is going to take place.
While the beginning of the story starts off on the quieter side, Kaylea definitely had my full attention once the Titanium team arrived in Pakistan. The story neither lacked a couple enticing smexy times nor theobligatory expected and thrilling action scenes that claimed a few casualties. A friendly heads-up. There’s a tragic scene included that will frighten readers who are fans of a man who was featured as a hero in one of the prequels. That was a tough part and not easy to read because the consequences were precarious. I know I’m such a meanie but I won’t tell you who it is. Now you can start guessing.
Our heroine Jordyn is twenty-three-years-old and can kick some serious ass. She’s a very versed mechanic as well as a very good shot. I think you will enjoy seeing her in action (pun intended). Hero Blake Ellis, twenty-nine-years-old, is half black, a former US Marine and the Titanium's team sniper. Blake is another of Kaylea’s delicious alpha males. Gorgeous, strong, courageous and protective to boot. Jordyn has been in love with Blake for years but she never acted on her feelings. Blake felt guilty for having more than friendly feelings for Jordyn and he didn't want to risk their friendship by taking it one step further. Since Titanium Security is short on security contractors, Blake's boss wants to hire someone experienced, preferably a qualified mechanic who is also versed in firing a long gun. Jordyn fits the bill and accepts the job offer. The prospect of working together provides also an opportunity to clear the air between them and have a serious talk.

Minor quibble
Even though Jordyn was in love with Blake for years already, the I would have preferred a more "rounded" ending, a short epilogue would have been nice.
Alex might give Gage a run for his money
Fifty-one-year-old former Special Forces NCO and co-owner of Titanium Security, Alex Rycroft, and his love interest Grace Fallon have been set up nicely in Extinguished. Grace has a PhD in chemistry and is a chemical weapons inspector for the UN. That sounds pretty darn eclectic as well as impressive to me. Also, the author hinted at a possible meltdown from Alex. Boy, there are some serious emotions hidden behind his armor of steel. In fact, there's some interesting history between Alex and Grace and I can honestly say that I’m super excited to read their story! Besides, some of you know how much I love to read about mature characters. Luke, Absolution, anyone? *grabby hands*
Extinguished is a solidly written sequel in the Titanium Security series and a must read for every fan of Kaylea Cross. I hope you'll enjoy Blake and Jordyn's story!

Former Marine and sniper Blake Ellis is tagged to make an in-person request to recruit former Marine Jordyn Bridger to join the task force as their resources are being stretched thin. Blake was her recently deceased brother’s best friend and is extremely close to her family. She’s been in love with him for years but their last encounter at her brother’s funeral left her hurt and angry. Though she’s perfect for the team, Jordyn knows that she’ll be tested emotionally by working with Blake and having to hide feelings that won’t be reciprocated.
Meanwhile, tracking terrorist Malik Hassani has taken on new meaning following a devastating attack on US soil. The team heads to Pakistan where the tension, danger and suspense ratchets up to new heights. The action is dangerous and exciting, illustrating the best aspects of this series as the scene descriptions are painfully accurate and well written when the operation leads them to Afghanistan. I could see the landscape and caves vividly as well as the execution of the attacks. It was exciting and scary, giving you a strong sense of how that war looks and feels.
Blake and Jordyn’s relationship was always in the background, moving to the forefront when it felt natural to do so. It was lovely how they finally realized they were on the same page about their feelings, excepting Blake’s guilt about seeing his best friend’s sister. No insta-love here as these two have known each other since childhood. Their actions in the midst of a serious operation were professional despite their feelings.
I enjoyed all aspects of this story and it was very close to the level of the first book in this series. The next book is set up perfectly and I’m looking forward to what has to put Alex Rycroft, the enigmatic leader of the task force, in the spotlight.

Extinguished, the Fourth installment of Titanium Security Series which picks up after where Burned left off. Former Marine Scout/Sniper Blake Ellis had to meet Jordyn Bridger, a Former Marine who's been in love with Blake who only sees her as his best friend's little sister, to recruit her as a contractor to NSA-Sanctioned Taskforce.
When the team flew to Pakistan things started to get interesting again. A tragic scene occurred which was totally heartbreaking 😭💔, that gave way for Jordyn to be Blake’s partner (that’s one of the reasons why I like this book). A little different from the previous 3 books in the series. The thrilling action continues as they try to catch Malik “Sand Viper” Hassani. This part of Extinguished kept me on edge, I love it as it shows how good Jordyn and Blake works together.
I totally enjoyed this one, I hope there’s more of them in the next book, Rekindled. Looking forward to Alex & Grace’s story. 😏👌🏻👍🏻

Amongst all the book of this series this one worked best for me maybe because of the characters and also because the plot was much tighter. The heroine has been in love with the hero forever and even the hero started noticing her in a new light but didn't want to jeopardize their friendship and dishonour her brother, his dead friend. They both share a kiss after her brother's death and the hero runs.
However, after months of silence he contacts her, for a job with his team, as a former marine and mechanic she is qualified for it. They both soon confess their changed feelings and love is instant, already present under the surface. The big baddie of the series has been caught and the stage is also set for Alex's story and his heroine.

I'm really enjoying this series and I think EXTINGUISHED has my favorite couple! The action and suspense continues as the team hunts down Hassani and things definitely heat up as they travel to the Middle East. This is probably the most suspenseful book of the series and I was on the edge of my seat with each new turn of events. Kaylea Cross doesn't pull any punches when it comes to the risks and dangers for military and government agents and I was strongly feeling that. I won't give things away but some emotional stuff happens that really pulls at my heartstrings.
Part of what I loved about EXTINGUISHED so much was our couple, Blake and Jordyn. They've been friends for years after Blake met Jordyn's brother in the Marines. But an unexpected kiss had Blake running and ashamed for what he thought was a mistake. They've both loved each other for years but each thought it was one sided and this was one of those moments where I just wanted to yell at them to get it together. Thankfully, they resolve their problems pretty early on and the majority of the drama comes from external factors. Blake and Jordyn were solid as a couple once they each admitted their feelings and I loved the deep well of history and care they have with each other.
Hands down I'm in love with Jordyn -- she was so badass and amazing! I love tough heroines who can take care of themselves and even more than that I love when their heroes respect those strengths. Blake knows Jordyn is the perfect person to join their team and he never hesitates when it comes to supporting her. In fact, everyone on the team respects Jordyn for the skills she brings to the table and it was really refreshing to have a story where the heroine's gender isn't a source of conflict or power games.
Every new book I read my Kaylea Cross is great and she's firmly cemented herself as a favorite author for me.

I sometimes think that the friendship that catches fire romance is harder for a writer to pull off than the strangers that have insta lust at first sight. Especially when you throw in the best friends little sister trope, but "Extinguished" handles this clichéd plot just fine. I think that it helped greatly that the suspense heated up and the focus of the plot wasn't solely on our couple.
Jordyn Bridger is a former Marine who is now working as an ace mechanic. She lost her older brother six months ago and, it seems, she also lost his best friend too after a scorching hot kill the night of the funeral. Now, Blake is back, but not to pick up where he left off, but to offer her a job with Titanium Security. She'll take the job because it intrigues her and to be close to Blake.
Blake Ellis ran from Jordie after her brother's funeral, now he has to face up to the fact he has deep feelings for her and he needs to requite her to the Titanium Security Team. Chasing the terrorist who is determined to destroy Titanium Security leads the Team back to Pakistan and a deadly attack on the Team. Jordie will need to step in and work closely with Blake. Putting these two together forces them to confront their deep feelings and also puts them both is danger.

Extinguished is by far the best in Titanium Security compared to previous ones. It was unputdownable! The plot was great, it was engaging until the end.
I liked the main characters, both of them are badasses. I didn’t quite enjoy their romance though. It was dull and felt pretty rush regardless they’ve known each other for years. But then, I didn’t bother with the romance because it was the action scenes I wanted the most.
I wasn’t entirely happy about the fate of the terrorist leader. I guarantee he is still capable of making havoc as long as he still lives. The guy just don’t deserve to live after what he did to innocent people, to Sean and the rest of the team. I just hope Sean’s going to be okay because if it’s in real life, the possibility of it to be otherwise is inevitable.
Anyway, I’m moving on to the next book. I hope in Book 5 the team’s truly put a bullet in the terrorist leader’s head and end him for good. That happen, I will sit down on a couch and drink beer to celebrate.

This was my first book by Kaylea Cross and it was surprisingly good. I didn't expect that.
I liked the characters, both the main ones and secondary. Double points for Blake who is not a typical alpha caveman despite being a military man. Also Jordyn is a strong heroine who knows what she wants. Reading about them was a pleasure.
The only thing I actually didn't like about this books is that it was a bit too short. I believe that if it was longer there would be more character development and more plot. The relationship was okay thanks to the 'I loved your for years' motive but otherwise it would be lacking in development, too.
It was a short but nice read. I will definitely read the other books in the series one day.

March 20, 2019Not just no, but hell no. I am not going to put up with this stupid-as-fuck melodrama because this little girl can't speak up like the adult she repeatedly claims to be. She's gonna torture herself over this and then torture the hero by punishing him for not knowing how she feels about him even though she's made every effort to hide how she feels.
This is why men think women are crazy. Because y'all find this shit entertaining and romantic, so you emulate this ridiculous behavior and backasswards thinking. WHICH IS FUCKING CRAZY.

This book was so good, but I cried. I love Ellis and Jordyn and their story is awesome, but Sean had me in tears. Great story action, suspense and romance with a little heartbreak. Loved that could shoot and work on cars so AWESOME and her family pretty spectacular.

I loved the action in this book! Be warned, one of the characters that you know and love gets hurt. I cried at that point cause I was so worried. As for the romance, I don't think I'd have fallen into Blake's arms so quickly after the way he disappeared on her for so long. But who knows, I may just do that, especially if he is a hot military guy lol

This fourth instalment in the Titanium Series was extremely enjoyable to read, and no matter how many times, I read it, it always has me on the edge of my seat. Thanks to the characters, the drama, action, and adventure, and for me it's totally worth reading, especially for fans of this series and author.

Love getting to read early copies of Kaylea's books! This is one of my favorite military RS series :)

I have to admit that I had trouble with this one. It had nothing to do with the actual writing or the story of Jordyn and Blake. I mean, who doesn't love a couple that likes each other but doesn't realize that the other likes them back in return so they hold off on admitting how they feel to the other? And I liked that it wasn't drug out in this book. Jordyn and Blake came to their senses pretty early on in this book. And they were hot together.
Here's the issue I had with this book - and it's not really a spoiler if you've been reading the series so I'm not going to hide my comments as if it were one. Titanium is a private security firm. Sure, all those employed with Titanium are former military. But none of them are now. Yet, they're the ones going after Hassani? NOT the actual military. And there was even one part where Jordyn mentioned that the SEALs were their backup. Uh, as far as I know the capture of one of the deadliest terrorists would be a military led mission. Civilians - former military or not - would be no where near where the mission was going down. This was really hard for me to get past. And for all of the research that Ms. Cross does for her books, I'm kind of surprised that it was written this way. I get the first three books in this series. The men were the bodyguards for the women that Hassani had targeted. They were protecting those that were the targets - which is what a bodyguard is supposed to do. But they do not lead raids to capture deadly terrorists. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but it was a sticking point for me.
So on to book 5. It's Alex's story....

This book was really more like 3.5 stars but Goodreads STILL doesn’t allow for half stars and it wasn’t a 3 star book so four stars it is.
I am always a fan when the love interests have history. Weather it be second chance romance or friends or brother’s best friend, the instant attraction and quick dating are always 1000x more believable to me because I just assume in my head that they don’t need to spend a year deciding if they have things in common or are compatible because they’ve done it already.
And this book is no different. Blake and Jordyn’s romance was believable because they’d been friends for a decade.
I also LOVED the scene where they figured out their feelings for each other. It was so well done and Blake’s reaction was amazing and just everything about it was fantastic.
Also that closet scene 🤤🤤🔥🔥🔥
The action in this on was also spectacular. The story line has been building for three previous books and really comes to a head in this one, giving us some satisfying conclusions.
Honestly my biggest complaint about this book was I wanted a little more romance. Blake and Jordyn didn’t get a lot of alone time and they were trying to keep their relationship on the DL for a lot of it, so I kinda wish they’d had more time just them.

One of the things I most like about Kaylea Cross' work is her characters. She has the situations, the suspense and the world building done to perfection but it's her protagonists that really make her books outstanding.
I loath the "I gave her up because I was not good enough, or she's my best friends sister" themes in romance, they piss me off and I tend to avoid them because I can never get past the fact that it's generally the H that does the deciding in things like that and it's annoying as heck, making me as a reader want the h to have moved on and found someone else just because IMO the H does not deserve her. BUT..... it didn't annoy me as much in this story and that is all down to KC's talent and that she doesn't do doormats. No matter what the situation her h's fight back, they do move on they do stand up and the do not ever take nonsense from their men and that I like.
So while the theme did fall into my I won't read pile I read it and enjoyed it.

it's the first book I read from Titanium series.
action and romance packed beautifully.
Jordyn is badass she knows how to use guns and can fix things.
I like it that is not an instalove. they knew each other for a long time. The author writes the sniper scenes wonderfully. I never read such a detailed scenes like that.
I read some reviews in GR that a reader said that Titanium is a private security firm and they should not the one to pursue a terrorist, and they have a SEAL team as a backup.
That's make sense. I think catching a terrorist should be the government job not a private security firm (ex military or not).
It's an enjoyable read after all. I hope Sean will recover and not too seriously injured.

Holy shit! Talk about revisiting the past and swallowing your tongue! You never start something you can’t finish! Oy vey🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄. I guess Blake had all this coming to him the night he just left abruptly. I understand Jordyns anger fully. Now with his tail between his legs, he’s forced to face her again. And not only that, needs her help? Oh boy..... he would certainly be groveling.(BIG TIME) this was also action packed and full of goodies. This was a complete nail biter... (and I have the bitten nails to prove it 😒).... but oh sooo good. I’ve put everything else aside to finish this series....yes I’m that addicted..😁 loved it.

This one made me cry. Blake and Jordyn's story was definitely worth staying up until really late to finish. Blake has secretly wanted so much more from his best friend's sister, but he walked away from their entire family. Now, he will see her for the first time since that heartbreaking day. Jordyn, can't believe the voice she hears...can it be!? Ah, heck no!
Even though their story was great, it was Sean and Zahra's part of the story that broke my heart and made me cry do much.

Not as great as I thought it would be. Thought Jordyn was a strong women but when it came to men, she became weak. 1st sign Blake gets injured, she forgets her mission & focus on him instead, until he snaps her out of it. Weak!!
Hate it!! Women fawning over men, alpha men, instead of just trusting them. Trust goes both way so why not show it than falling apart like most women.

This book has wonderful characters, as always, and a great story. The suspense and military action keep the story so interesting and exciting. The development of the romance is enjoyable. Great entertainment!!

Another quick read in this series where each story builds n the previous one, always leaving some things undone. Not a cliffhanger, but the whole story is not done until the final book. Likeable characters, but the story line is getting repetitious.

The series needs to be read in order because the whole terrorist plot line continues throughout. I couldn't finish reading this because the whole unrequited love thing is so superficial and annoying. In fact, I haven't been impressed with the entire series.
