Judith McCoy Miller is an excellent author and her books are always a treat. I started this book in July and finally finished it in October. Please don't think that it isn't any good considering I took forever. I've been struggling lately with my reading. I'm a homeschooling grandmother and just have a lot going on at this time. Enjoy.

I was given a copy of Threads of Love through the publisher and their partnership with Netgalley in exchange for my honest review which is as follows:

After loosing her Mother Delphinia's Father strikes up a bargain with a man to takecare of his daughter. Delphinia is not ready to be sent to a strange place with a man she does not know but she has no choice in the matter. Delphinia soon finds herself resolved to the fact that she is going to be with this man and help him care for his dead brothers children and soon she is able to forgive her Father.

When Delphinia receives a letter from her Father that he is in Colorado City and is dying of Consumption she has to go and see him so he knows that she forgives him. And her Father wants to make amends for being a poor Father for the two years since her Mothers death so he can die knowing that his daughter forgives her.

Doctor Charlie Banion does not expect a woman when he is reading over applications for a doctor so when Doctor Tessie Wilshire shows up he is taken by surprise.

On the train to her new career and her new life she meets a young woman who is bitter over the death of her Mother and having to care for her younger sister who went deaf just the year before. Soon Tessie finds herself playing a Mother role to Lydia and especially young Addie. Soon Lydia leaves abandoning Addie and leaving it for Tessie to tell her.

Before long Tessie learns about a new procedure that may allow Addie to hear again. Just before the young girl goes in for the risky surgery Tessie discovers that the young girl's hearing was returning, and she knew it was God.

I give Threads of Love five out of five stars

Threads of Love by Judith McCoy Miller is a historical, romance novel. Delphina Elizabeth Hughes lost her mother six months ago and now her father is sending her away. Her father has wanderlust and wishes to go explore (which means he wants to look for gold). He placed a newspaper advertisement (unbeknownst to Delphina) to find a position or home for her. Jonathan Wilshire has answered the ad. Jonathan believes Delphina is the answer to his prayers. Jonathan recently lost his brother and sister-in-law, and he was left with five children (Tessie, Josh, Joey, Nathan, and Nettie) and Sarah’s mother, Granny in his care. Delphina does not wish to leave her home or Cherryvale, but she is not given a choice (aren’t you glad that the world has changed). Delphina is off to Kansas to live with the Wilshire family. Delphina is sure God has a plan for her. Delphina settles into life in Council Grove, Kansas with the Wilshire’s. Just when she finds happiness, her father contacts her. He is dying and wants her to come to him. Delphina has choices to make. Will she make the right ones?

Threads of Love is well-written and an interesting story. However, it is predictable (you know how it will end). There is some humor in the book which I enjoyed. I liked the Christian values portrayed in the novel (it is a shame that more people do not have the same faith and values). The book also contains bonus content entitled Woven Threads. I give Threads of Love 4 out of 5 stars. I look forward to reading the next book by Judith McCoy Miller.

Two sweet stories set in late 1800's Kansas, interconnected by a family thread, and a special quilt sewn with love.

Delphinia's life takes a rough turn when her father arranges for her to be sent to Kansas for work not long after her mother dies. She has quite a lot to learn as she takes on the job of caring for five orphaned children and their elderly grandmother. It helps that the children's uncle is longsuffering and has a good sense of humor! Her transformation from an angry teenager to a mature young lady comes more from the spiritual lessons she learns along the way, especially when she learns to forgive and extend grace to others.

Tessie's story starts about 15 years later as she begins her career as a physician in a bustling railroad town in Kansas. Back in her home state after years of medical school in Chicago, she is eager to start her practice, making the most of every opportunity to help others, including a little deaf girl she meets on the train. Many challenges come her way, but she handles them well using not only her medical knowledge, but a lot of faith, hope and love.

These were enjoyable quick reads, laced with some good examples of spiritual truths. Readers who like Christian historical romances, from young adult and up, will probably enjoy these. (Previously published in the book titled Kansas.) 3.5 stars

What a sweet, sweet story! Delphinia is sent away to care for five little orphans after her precious mother dies! She does not understand how her father could possibly do such a thing to her. She does not Jon and she does not want to go and she communicates that to both men. Jon finds her amusing and that further infuriates her. When she arrives, she finds there is also a sick grandmother for her to deal with. She faces a sullen, angry little Tessie. Tessie feels she can continue caring for the children and does not need Delphinia's assistance. Will things work out for Delphinia? How will things ever be alright again?
The bonus story, Woven Threads, continues the story with Tessie's life when she leaves home to study to become a doctor and fulfills that dream. She takes in a little orphan and begins to fall in love. Will life ever be normal for her? What will she do with two men vying for her hand in marriage?
I rated this book 5 stars and highly recommend it to lovers of historical fiction.

These stories were all right, but I picked the wrong day to read them. I had trouble getting into these stories. Although, I did like the second story, Woven Threads, better than the first story, Threads of Love.
