They used to be best friends. Then enemies. Now lovers. And all because of one night of drunken karaoke.

Drew seems to have an agenda of his own when he agrees to be Olivia's plus one. The only question is, will this be a one night fling or the love of a lifetime?

I LOVED this book. It's funny, cute and steamy. The whole plot of the story is something I can very well see happening and I enjoyed embarking on this journey with Olivia and Drew, who are just perfect for one another. I loved the ending and will admit it pulled a bit at my heart strings.

If you love contemporary romance and guaranteed HEA, then don't hesitate in giving this book a read!

The Plus One is the third book in the Starting from Zero series, all standalones. Olivia and Drew used to be best friends until one drunken night they make a mistake that ruined it all. One year later Olivia finds herself in need of a date to her ex-boyfriends wedding. The only problem is that she doesn't have a boyfriend! She immediately thinks of Drew, knowing his attendance there will make her ex jealous. What she doesn't know is that Drew has a hidden agenda. He accepts to be her plus one, but at what cost to their hearts?

I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it. All my opinions and thoughts are in no way influence by this.

Too much ‘thinking’ not enough ‘doing’

Although it’s a well written book, it’s my least favorite by this author. I loved the concept, but not the main characters, at least not at first. Drew, the bad boy, although in my opinion in an immature douche bag way, not in a good way. Olivia, very insecure, lamenting and whining and moaning a bit too much… If you used to be SUCH good friends, then surely you could find a way to talk to each other! And the thought processes were just too long and took the flow out. Sometimes there were pages of internal monologue in between every spoken sentence and I just lost track of the conversation that way. I do like getting inside a character’s head, but this was overkill. It was just slow. Not much actually happening. Later it did get better, it got lighter and more fun, but always with tension in the background. All in all, it was just OK for me.

BTW: for adults only ;)

I received a complimentary copy of this book and voluntarily posted an honest review.

Olivia and Drew were best friends all thru college, though if it was up to him, they would be more then just friends. Unfortunately for him, she was also dating Drew's room mate Jessie! All was going good, until Jessie broke up with her and her friendship with Drew ended all in the same night! Can their friendship survive the hurt and lies or will it turn into something more then just friendship? What a great book! I highly recommended it!

I liked all about the sexual tension between characters but It was really hard to connect with Drew. Ahhh I just wanted to kick his ass... seriously.

Ok, I started reading this again and I think I need to write something I didn't notice the first time.

The author seems to don't have an idea of what to write because repeats the same sentence like she wants to fill blank spaces of the page to make more words and it's really frustrating. For example, in one escene the guy is trying to convince the girl to have sex and she's talking to herself like

"Oh, he is not my best friend anymore, Jessie is not my borfriend" then "he is not Jessie's best friend anymore, and we're not friends" and then "He is (former) Jessie's best friend and Jessie is my (former) boyfriend"

+1 or ++? Again, math geek/ former math teacher... and current programmer. In programming, a + 1 can be written as a++, and that is definitely the rating this book deserves. Fun, hot, funny, romantic... everything you want in a lighthearted romance book. Absolutely pick this one up, it really is an fun read. (And ignore Goodreads telling you it is just 83 pages. It is roughly similar in length to the other two books in this trilogy.)

Hot, tender story of unrequited love

I always have to read those stories I come across where the Hero suffers through unrequited love. Nothing better than a man already head over heels and wrecked for the heroine. And if it's best friends? Even better. This was a prime example of one of those. It was a hot, tender, romantic story between two people with great chemistry and a strong connection.

Good storyline, well-written, nicely told history of the relationship. Just can't help adoring Drew. The important karaoke scene was easy to visualize and the song choice was so fitting that it even came with a mental soundtrack =) I couldn't help but hear the song over and over in my head as I read this book. Good thing I like Rick Springfield =P

I loved the book ! Livy called Buttercup or Princess, also and Avery the
Playboy, the best friend and eventually the one! It was about an amazing couple trying to find their place together in life! Could she trust him, could he help her find what they had together and could she accept it? All of those questions were the type that were going thru her head! And, what about all her plans or his plans for the future? A very enjoyable book that I would definitely recommend!
I read and reviewed honestly an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

I know I say this every time this author has a new book out but, this ONE is my absolute favorite! I adore her writing style! Olivia and Drew were best friends until Drew kind of messed it up. They don't speak for a year but then Olivia puts her foot in her mouth and needs Drew to be her plus-1 at her ex-boyfriend's wedding. And then the shenanigans begin! You'll have to grab this book to find out what because I don't want to give anything away! Great storyline with humor, heat and a little angst, with awesome characters! Can't wait to see what's next from this author! Highly recommend!

I’ve read all of Maggie Dallen’s High School Romances (Out of His League, A Whole New League a s the Senior Week novels) and they were so magically superb that I was actually a bit afraid of trying this book. I shouldn’t have worried. The Plus One has all the magic I’ve come to expect from this author. The blurb does a good enough job of summarizing the story so I’m not going to, but instead I will simply say that this was Pure. Unadulterated. Fun. Great characters and a well done plot that left me with a big smile. Not much more one could ask for.

Highly recommended.

Great book!

I love this author. She does such a good job writing a love story. I love how she had Drew as the one who was in love. Olivia only saw him as a friend. Yet as the author writes you understand the characters better and the deep feelings in their hearts. Drew hasn't really ever opened up to her and has tried to bury his feelings by having meaningless sex. Olivia is afraid of being hurt by her best friend, man whore. The opening scene is pretty great too.

I believe this is the first book by this author I have read, even though I have a couple of her books on my TBR pile.
To be honest, I'm often quite impatient with MCs in their early /mid-twenties (my personal problem, not the author's :-p), and so it took me a while to warm up to Livvy and Drew as well.

Still, I enjoyed both the story and Maggie Dallen's writing - and I'd like to read more about Avery, hoping she has a story where she gets her HEA...

This was a really fun book. It hooked me right from the start. The Prologue begins with the karaoke night, but does not tell the whole story. Throughout the book we learn what happened that night from both Olivia and Drew's perspective.

I could not put this down. Olivia and Drew were great characters, and reading their love story was fantastic. I also enjoyed the secondary characters.

Another bargain I picked up. I like Maggie Dallen's work - light reading , soppy, sometimes steamy and very romantic. Best friends falling for each other always works for me. Here rather than teenagers at high school we have late twenties out of college- Olivia and Drew. Still got a mean girl and a cheating ex just like high school!
Ideal for a quick romantic read.

If you are looking for a book that is fun to read and you don't really have to invest to much of your time then this one is perfect. Its cute, sorta mindless so don't try to read too much into the storyline. Because there isn't one to be honest. But I did have fun reading this book. Kinda kept me hooked till the end to see what happens. Overall I would give it 2.5 stars.

Pleasantly Distracting

As always Maggie Dallen was able to create relatable and like able characters. I enjoyed reading about the two protagonist as a light reading escape from reality.

This is #1 book in the "Morning After " box set, and I am submittingthis review after reading it as such.

Who in their right mind would contemplate attending the wedding of their cheating former boyfriend.
Yeah, it made for a good story, but really, it's not natural.

Best ever

Best unrequited love story ever. Two broken hearts. A wedding of exes on the horizon. And a plan of one to claim the other. What could go wrong?

Felt bit too short and rushed. Really enjoyed the story about one sided love growing into real relationship. Reminded me of him.

It wasn't that i didn't like the book, but it wasn't as enthralling or endearing as the other two! It felt very predictable to me

I have not ever read a book like this one. The characters are so well defined and you can keep up with the storyline. Drew and Livvy are the most exciting and funny characters I have read about, their playfulness and love make you warm and gushy on the inside. So bravo Maggie for a well written book...
