Life works in mysterious ways. Jameson Force Security has just received notice of a disavowed CIA agent in need of rescue in Central America. My blood runs cold when I learn that agent is none other than Greer Hathaway—my former fiancée.
Having gone our separate ways more than a decade ago, I still have bitter feelings toward Greer and the demise of our relationship. Those feelings don’t change the fact that I loved her more than anything, so I’m on the next flight out to embark on a rescue mission. Besides, Greer once saved my life, so now it’s time to return the favor and put her firmly in my past.
Face-to-face for the first time since ending our engagement, Greer and I are left with not only anger, unanswered questions and regrets, but also the undeniable chemistry we apparently still have. Will the promise of a new future together be enough, or will the same obstacles tear us apart again?

I read this book in a single sitting, on the edge of my seat. The thrilling suspense and incredible chemistry between Ladd and Greer kept me turning pages because I couldn't wait to see what happened next. Sawyer never fails to deliver stories I love to fall in love with.
Ex-CIA agent Ladd McDermott is happy with his life. He enjoys his job at Jameson, loves his 10YO son and has great respect for his ex-wife. Yet even though he left the love of his life behind with unpleasant feelings over a decade ago, he doesn’t hesitate to jump on the next flight to El Salvador to rescue her when he finds out she’s been disavowed by the CIA after being kidnapped on a mission.
Greer Hathaway regrets letting Ladd go and never stopped loving him. Being rescued by him and seeing him after all those years probes it. But can they learn to compromise and overcome the problems they had before?
I’m still in book-hangover. I can’t stop thinking about these two soulmates who fell in love and were reunited in an almost literal explosive way. Even though I’ve read several single parent stories back to back, and the complete Jameson Force Security series so far, this one is as original as the first.
The story never slowed down, we got glimpses of the past when Greer and Ladd fell in love, we also got wonderful character growth especially from Ladd since he’s the one who needed most in regard to his relationship with Greer. We get bite your nails moments, very steamy and sexy ones. It had the whole 1 yards and I loved it. We also get the first chapter of the next book, and OMG and CAN NOT wait to read it!
Code Name: Disavowed is book #8 of the Jameson Force Security series by author Sawyer Bennett. This can be perfectly read as a standalone. It is told from both points of view with a happy ending. Genre: contemporary romance, romantic suspense. Tropes: second chance | single parent | ex-CIA | soulmates
Ladd and Greer have a past one that he doesn't think about often, because lets be honest here she broke his heart when she called off their engagement, but when he hears that she has been Disavowed by the CIA when she was captured in Central America while working undercover for them trying to get information on a notorious criminal he isn't happy. Jameson Force Security has been hired to rescue her and Ladd is taking on the case because this is personal to him, she saved his life once before now he's going to save hers.
One sitting, that's all it took for me to devour this book, and if you look at the early reviews I'm not alone. There's a reason for that, this is a fast paced, edge of your seat, action packed, steamy romantic suspense that you won't want to put down. I was drawn in on the very first page and it never let up...like at all! I loved EVERY SECOND OF THIS BOOK!
Sawyer has been giving us some great reads within this series, but. this one in my opinion is the best so far.
If you enjoy Steamy Romantic Suspense, Second Chance at Love Romances, or Action Pact reads I would highly recommend this book to you.
Code Name: Disavowed is a second chance, romantic suspense contemporary romance in the Jameson Force Security Series.
Ladd McDermott is a retired CIA agent now working for Jameson Force Security. When the company gets a call that a CIA agent needs rescuing because he’s been taken captive oversees, the company doesn’t even know if they’ll take the case but when Ladd finds out who needs help, he of course has to go help.
Ladd’s ex, Greer Hathaway was the love of his life. Greer and Ladd broke up 10 years prior and have since moved on but still harbor the love they’ve always felt towards each other. There were some things I disliked which was that Ladd was such a huge a-hole and they broke up because he was a grade A jerk who couldn’t’ compromise. It would be a bit of a spoiler to give the reason itself but it’s still worth the read.
I wish Greer woudn’t have blamed hersef as much as she did because she honestly did nothing wrong. This whole thing frustrated me but when Ladd apologized I felt relief. I was getting extremely angry on the heroine’s behalf once I found out why they ended their relationship.
Overall I love the book as I do all of Sawyer’s books. I’m a junkie and I crave whatever she puts out.
Can’t wait for the next one! Please never let this series end.
15 years ago they both worked for the CIA and they even got engaged a while later. But then things happened and they haven't seen each other in over a decade. Ladd is now working for Jameson Security while Greer is still CIA - which is how Ladd finds himself in El Salvador to rescue the now disavowed agent from this über crime lord she was investigating.

Another great - and very mature - romantic suspense story in this series. We're already over 40! So you'd think we're all a bit wiser and smarter when it comes to our love lives. LOL! But they'll get there! We first have a few very dangerous moments to survive! This was a really exciting and sparky and very adorable second-chance love story. I really liked reading it!
Can't wait for Dozer's book next!
This could be a really great TV Show!
CODE NAME: DISAVOWED was another adorable + very suspensy romantic suspense second chance love story in this great series! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Ladd - this one is mine!
I am loving this series. It is filled with swoon worthy alpha men and this one had a badass female heroine in agent Greer Hathaway. Ladd McDermott is a retired agent now working for a private sector. When a job comes down the pike to rescue a female disavowed CIA agent and his ex- fiancé it is a no brainer. He is going to make this right, after he brings her home! Greer Hathaway walked away from love years ago but that doesn't mean she hasn't thought about what could have been. Now she is fighting for her life in a distant country and the one man she never thought that she would lay eyes on is here to rescue her. A romantic second chance filled with action, adventure, explosive chemistry between these old lovers and a whole lot of feelings! ~~Michele McMullen ~~
Hands down, this was my favourite read of the series. So far lol. That’s saying something because this series has been a romantic suspense powerhouse…
Greer and Ladd were still tangled in emotions from the past and seeing them work through past hurt was a lesson in how it can be done. They both were up front and honest, no matter how painful it was to say or to hear. Oh and did I mention all of this was going on during a kidnap rescue as well as betrayal close to home? So really, all the pressure as they were both fighting to stay alive. High-octane suspense and excitement galore meant my heart was under duress the entire time… In the best of ways of course!
Needless to say, this was a one-sitting read – one that is firmly on my re-read shelf! ~Diane, 5 stars
When this book hit my iPad, I jumped straight into it, and only stopped for a few hours sleep, I was captivated from the first page. The audio was superb with both narrators, each bringing the main character to life and giving me even more enjoyment. Erin’s voice is one that makes you feel familiar to, like a friend telling her side of the story. Teddy…oh Teddy is one of my favorite narrators, he ticks every box and understands emotion and delivers all the sentiments perfectly.
I don’t want to take any attention away from the actual story, which has been one of my favs in this series. A case is discussed with the team at Jameson Force Security that the government has asked help with. Ladd McDermott wasn’t paying too much attention until he hears a name from his past.. Greer Hathaway wasn’t just an old fling, she was his ex fiancée more than a decade ago. And she’s gone missing in El Salvador. Ladd takes no time in saying that he will be the first to head there and rescue Greer.
The story is action packed, learning about their past and dealing with the current situation which isn’t an easy fix. One thing that was effortless, the connection they still feel towards each other that’s also explosive. Whether you've been following the series, or picking up this standalone novel, you will be in for a gripping ride.
I enjoyed this one. It was easy to read and had easily likeable character. I adore second chance romance books, so it was going to be hard not to like this one. Ladd and Greer were both great characters. Tough with some sweetness underneath it all.
The mission that brings them back together is an interesting one and of course there are some intense moments - its also great to see some faves from the previous books in this series make their appearances as well. The ending was just perfect for these two characters as well.
Enjoyed this one and sped through it quite fast. Would recommend.
Code Name: Disavowed was the eighth book in the Jameson Force Security series by Sawyer Bennett. Although great to read in order, it could be read as a stand-alone.
Ladd McDermott was one of Jameson’s operatives and was a former CIA agent. We learned quickly that he had a former fiancé, Greer Hathaway, and he hadn’t seen nor heard from her in twelve years since they abruptly broke up. Once he heard she was still with the CIA and was in trouble, he knew he would help regardless of bad feelings. And of course it brought old feelings to the surface as well as brought light to Ladd’s current family situation.
Bennett took us through a suspenseful plot while simultaneously unraveling Ladd and Greer’s backstory. It was a quick, entertaining and heartfelt second chance story. Dozer is up next in Code Name: Revenge.
It's time for another round at Jameson Force Security.
And I think that this is my favourite to date (I have terrible bookzheimers, so I will admit that I can't remember much of the previous books - not surprising when you read as much as I do some times)
I adore a second chance at love, and throw in an adrenalin-spiking rescue and a man and woman who never stopped loving each other, and I was hooked.
These guys are closer to my age than college age - woo hoo - and I am glad I am no the only one who doesn't always have her ducks in a row lol.
I loved Greer's badassery, and while I am all for the women can do anything the man can thing, I don't know, but sometimes her pushing that agenda annoyed me,
I think Ladd's relationship with his wife and his ex are something we can all aspire too.
I loved getting more of the guys and gals at Jameson.
I know we have at least one more Jameson story to come, and I say this with every Sawyer Bennett series - I hope that this is the last in the Jameson series and that we finish on a high before things taper off.
Since Code Name: Disavowed is the eighth book in the Jameson Force Security Series it might that I have read to many of these in a row but I was having a hard time getting a good feel for this book. This one is Ladd McDermott and Greer Hathaway’s story. I will say this one had a lot of action and suspense which was engaging.
Ladd is a newcomer to the Jameson team. He is divorced but still great friends with his ex-wife since they coparent their ten year old son, Ethan. He’s sent on a mission to retrieve a CIA agent that was disavowed after being captured in El Salvador. It just happens that it is Greer an ex-lover he really never got over.
Greer Hathaway regrets her decision of letting Ladd go in pursuit of her career and realized her mistake soon after but when she to find him to let him know she saw that he had moved on. Now years later she is rescued by him and all those old feelings are brought to the surface.
I guess my issue is that I really didn’t feel the love connection between these two characters. It might just be my problem since it seems like most people seemed to enjoy this book more than me.
5 star Review Code Name: Disavowed (Jameson Force Security #8) by Sawyer Bennett
Code Name: Disavowed is book eight in the Jameson Force Security series and is a second chance at love story for Ladd and his ex fiancee Greer. From the first chapter I was on the edge of my seat as we went on a roller coaster of a ride.
This was a great addition to the series, with suspense, action, drama and intense chemistry. Their parting was not pleasant with words and anger lying between them and now years later the bitter resentments are still there. However all it takes is for Ladd to learn that Greer is in Central America and needs rescuing and all bets are off. He is determined to go in and rescue her, no matter the cost to himself.
Sawyer Bennett writes a story that is equal parts romance and suspense which makes for a well balanced exciting and intriguing read. This is a fast paced story and you cannot help but be drawn into the story that Ms. Bennett weaves.
Can they come to terms with the past, forgive one another and in doing so forge a future together? One click and find out.
This is my least favorite of the series. They were here, and then done. Then this happened and done. This came up again and done. It was just okay. I did love his son, Ethan.
Code Name: Disavowed is the eighth book in Sawyer Bennett’s Jameson Force Security Series and is the story of Ladd McDermott and Greer Hathaway. It is a second chance, romantic suspense story. This book captivated me from the first page. The action and thrilling suspense while Ladd and Greer are in the fight of their lives kept me engaged and completely invested from beginning to end.
Ladd is a newer agent in the Jameson family, we’ve seen him pop up in previous books but didn’t know much of his back story. From the first moment he learns of Greer’s endangerment he does not hesitate for a single second to put his life in danger to saves hers. If that isn’t true love I don’t know what is. Ladd is a single dad, to his ten year old son, Ethan. He co-parents him with his ex-wife who he is on good terms with. I loved Ladd and his tender moments with Ethan. He is such a terrific dad. Greer is his first love whom he never really got over. You can tell his heart never fully healed after they broke up and I was routing for them from the first moment they reconnect.
Greer is a strong confident, intelligent woman. She is as fierce as they come. She doesn’t hesitate to back down from a challenge and jump into the danger and violence that comes with the job of a CIA agent.
My only problem with the book was romance between Greer and Ladd. It is almost glossed over. The book is heavily focused on the danger and suspense of the story and I feel the book ended too quickly and it felt quite rushed. I wanted more time with them together as a couple and was left feeling a little disappointed in the end.
Regardless I am a huge fan of this authors work and am completely invested in this series. I cannot wait for Dozer’s book after that little peak at the end!
Note: ARC copy provided by the author in exchange of an honest review.
Code Name: Disavowed by Sawyer Bennett was such a good read.
I loved Ladd and Greer, they were strong, passionate characters that I easily connected with. Watching them get their second chance at love warmed my heart. I enjoyed their banter and I loved how in tune they were still after all these years apart.
Code Name: Disavowed is a wonderful addition to the Jameson Force Security and I highly recommend it.
Eight books in and this still is one of my favorite series ever! The books suck you in and the movie reel starts running. Before you know it you are immersed in an adventure that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Ladd and Greer's story proves to be just as much of an adrenaline rush as the previous books.
We travel to central America and the under belly of arms dealers. Lots of action in this one! A bit of intrigue along with the security action. Greer and Ladd have a past that ended badly but emotions were left unresolved. Throughout the story, that tension and chemistry threatens to break open. They just need to sort their feelings and get on with it.
I loved Ladd's son Ethan and his perspective on everything! Great to see the whole Jameson group join together on this one. Nice to see some familiar faces.
I am a sucker for epilogues and this story does not have one--really. Keep reading the preview for the next book about Dozer. That first chapter wrapped up this story nicely for me. I am looking forward to Dozer's adventure!
Fantastic story!
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
I LOVE this series so much so I'm delighted to be transported back into the Jameson Force Security world like you wouldn't believe. This story follows Ladd, a man who used to work for the CIA not to mention he planned on marrying another spy named Greer. Well, until they had a fight that tore them apart so they broke up & he moved on very quickly in my eyes. Fifteen years later, Greer is in some deep trouble so Jameson Force Security is hired to rescue her, and it just so happens that Ladd has been working there for a cool minute so he goes in to get her. On top of the danger they now face, there are a lot of past feelings to work through but they move along to their own lives quickly after until that situation she was in comes for her so Ladd is all involved again. The angst is out of this world (and I blame Ladd for everything by the way LOL), the twists are definitely coming in hot, the action is top notch, and there's even a big kicker of heat to round it all out perfectly. I LOVED this story hard, and CANNOT WAIT for the next one in the series since I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
4.5 Major Realizations Stars * * * * 1/2 Spoiler Free-A Quick Review Jameson Force Security prides itself on being the hidden arm of the government when certain operations get complicated and need assistance without notice. When the name of the CIA agent in trouble is Greer Hathaway, Ex-CIA agent Ladd McDermott jumps almost out of his skin and takes the lead on her rescue.
Now with Jameson, Ladd was shocked to hear about this. It brought all of the old memories back to the broken engagement he had with her over ten years ago. Each claimed to have their reasons for the break, but Greer was the one who Ladd all these years and relationships later, had the remaining feelings.
This well-crafted tale takes the reader on a journey of suspense, discovery by both main characters about themselves and their feelings...and all the well-known sexy, romantic times Sawyer Bennett and Her Jameson Men are Known For...Yum!
Greer Hathaway was a CIA operative in good standing, working her way through missions. When she is kidnapped during an operation, she believes that her CIA handler will come in and lead a rescue to get her out. She has no idea she has been disavowed by the very organization she dedicated her life to.
Ladd McDermott hasn’t seen his former fiance since they broke off their engagement. When Jameson Force Security learns of Greer’s kidnapping in Central America, Ladd doesn’t think twice about heading to her rescue; after all, she saved his life once too.
When they are face to face again, neither expects to feel the flames from so many years ago reignite, nor are they expecting the storm heading their way as they work to find out what went wrong on Greer’s op.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The action never slowed down and the characters kept things moving at a brisk pace. I had my guesses throughout but was surprised and entertained at the twists the story took.
Ladd’s relationship with his son and his ex had me falling in love with both of those characters, as well as his ex’s new man. This is a perfect example of healthy, functional co-parenting at its best.
This is one of my favorites from this series. I loved the way Ladd and Greer worked together, the way they addressed their past, and the way the team around them poked at the raw pieces they were trying to hide.
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~
This is the eighth book in the series - and I would definitely recommend them all to you - but if you wanted to start here and then go back to the beginning, you would get a great story even without all the nuance. And the complications in JFS staff's love life are intense and as each one falls in love, the next steps up to take a chance!
We get to learn a great deal about Ladd and his past in this one, most especially that he married a totally wonderful, even if not for him, woman. Her level of happiness for them and kindness towards Greer was clearly a little overwhelming for her!
I loved the complications which Greer needing rescuing brought to the team, and the disavowing made me think of Burn Notice, which was a fun memory. I am a huge fan of the spy, double spy, greedy spy genre, and this one worked well for me. I am delighted that the outcome proved to be so satisfying. I loved that we got to know Greer better thanks to the women in JFS being prepared to recognise when someone needs a friend and some reassurance, even if they are a badass.
Rooting for this couple! Greer and Ladd both worked for the CIA and ended up falling in love when Greer saved Ladd years ago. But when things got messy and they ended up breaking up and Ladd left the agency, they moved on with their lives. Greer tried to go back and apologize to Ladd and potentially fix their relationship, but she finds it’s too late and decides to devote her life to her job. Years later, Greer ends up getting made on a job and the agency is unable to send help, but they utilize Ladd’s new agency to help rescue her. Knowing who she is, Ladd takes the job and rescues her, and then things get messy when she finds that her identity has been leaked and there is a mole in the agency. Going to Ladd for help, he’s reluctant at first because he’s trying to fight the feelings, he always had for her, and with them in close proximity to each other, they are able to talk things out and rekindle things. They work together to not only take the bad guy down, but also find the mole within the organization, and we see another couple fall and build a home in Pittsburgh. I can’t wait to see who’s next from this series! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Ms. Bennett’s books are so exciting that you don’t want to put it down until the end! Greer and Ladd met when they were both on assignment for the CIA and hit it off. If felt like they were meant for each other until they had a big blow up about what they wanted in life. Greer felt she needed her job to make her happy. Unfortunately a few years later she knew it was Ladd that made her happy, but it was too late. Now 14 years later Ladd works for the Jameson Security team in the Pittsburg office. Kynan gets a job request from the government to rescue a CIA agent that was disavowed. I can’t imagine how Ladd felt when he realizes it is Greer and that Kynan was going to turn it down. I was glad Ladd spoke up and said he would go in alone and get her out. That was one exciting extraction! I know Greer was shocked when she was told she was still disavowed when she got back after all she had done for the CIA. Ladd automatically thinks there is something weird going on. Of course things don’t go smoothly and another trip needs to be made back to South America. This book is so good, and I strongly encourage you to read it. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
I LOVE Greer. My heart broke for her in the beginning but she is a total BA. She is a CIA agent, she can take care of herself in dangerous situations. She is smart and strong. But I love that there is a softer side to her, too. A side that there are only glimpses of for a while and something that only Ladd brings out in her. I also really loved Ladd. His heart was broken, but he moved on in his life and he never forgot about Greer. He is former CIA and a member of the Jameson Security Force.
The chemistry between Greer and Ladd is intense, even after over a decade apart from each other there is still something incredibly strong between the two of them. I loved getting to see how they originally connected in the past and how they are reconnecting in the past.
There is a lot of action, suspense and plenty of spice mixed throughout this story.
If you’re looking for a second chance, romantic suspense story this is one to read!
As with all of the Code Name books, this one did not disappoint. I wait for each of these team members' backstories and each will take you on a journey that will leave you feeling in awe of author Sawyer Bennett's writing style. This one started with a disavowed CIA agent that needed to be rescued and Jameson Force Security is all too ready to go. And it didn't slow down from there, Ladd takes off to save the girl from his past and hopes to leave her there when they return. But when the rescue is over and the sparks between them are still there and sizzling even stronger. As things go a little haywire, the team heads to Central America to bring down the bad guys. This story is filled with suspense, wonder, awe, lost love, fear, and a love to last. You need to read this one, once I started it, I only stopped to work, sleep and eat. I hope you love it too. **I received a free copy of this book to read and review and this is my honest opinion**
4.5☆ I devoured the audiobook in one day! I really loved Ladd and Greer's second chance at happiness. Their second chance is years later, but their connection and chemistry is still so strong after all that time. I really loved both Ladd and Greer's characters. They both are so strong and passionate about what and who they care about. I loved the suspense part of their journey. It was quite interesting and packed plenty of action. I really enjoyed this listen and I look forward to more in this world!
I really enjoyed this one! It was fast paced and had great action and chemistry. I look forward to the next one in this series.
Narrators Erin Mallon & Teddy Hamilton were perfect!
I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Oh, Greer! That opening scene of the book had my heart hurting for her! But then, we came to present day and we got a kick-ass woman who fights for herself and those she loves. Ladd is perfect for her, and I was so happy to read about their second-chance amongst all the action and intrigue in the story. A great addition to the series!
Life works in mysterious ways. Jameson Force Security has just received notice of a disavowed CIA agent in need of rescue in Central America. My blood runs cold when I learn that agent is none other than Greer Hathaway—my former fiancée. Sorry just couldn't get into this book at all I am guessing I need a break from this series.
