The movie is incredibly different -- it's focused around 3 of the women in the book, but way more interesting. There's no real plot in the book.

No, it's a multicharacter bio-pic, with the usual compromises essential to that genre, such as composite characters. The movie's trailer is more interesting per minute than the book is, but the totality of the book is greater.

I know, the book is really boring, though something tells me that for the first time the movie is better, though I haven't watched it.
