As sweet as Oscar and his boys were, he loved the idea of Casey more than her. She was filling a hole in his life. I don’t take the end to mean that her and Silas end up happily ever after, but I didn’t mind her choice in him. They have way more in common and her frustrations with his abrupt leaving are mirrored in her treatment of him later in the novel. They are both giving each other another chance

I agree. I would have rather had her end up with neither of the guys — clearly she could benefit from some "me" time! Then I could picture her meeting up with Oscar and his boys at a time when she could be with him on more equal footing.

I hated the end. I was reading women's fiction but by the end, it turned into a rom-com. She was not being forced to choose a man; the fact that Oscar wasn't a good match for her didn't make the other guy a better option. I was very disappointed when she chased him.
