Just one! I was confused also until I realised it was replaying the same crash for more understanding. You almost need a timeline because it switches between timing so much

I deliberately let you think it was a crash that happens after she and brian fight at the beginning of the book - but in reality she leaves the house in anger… and I never actually say she gets on a plane ;)

There is only one plane crash in this book but the story is told twice (there are 3 accounts of the Conversion of St Paul in Acts but he was only converted once).
In "Songs of the Humpback Whale" (Jodi Picoult's first published book) a major character is the sole survivor of a plane crash, the theme may occur in some of her other books.
