Would anyone like to discuss the meaning of the ending? I’m quite confused by it and finished the book as intrigued as I was when I started it.

Melos Han-Tani I think there's some implication of the stalking being cyclical? The Yellow woman becoming the Purple woman, their overlap in being isolated and lonely.
Adeeb I had the same question. It was ambiguous to me as well. Well, what I got about the whole thing is that the woman in the yellow cardigan was creepy and obsessed with the woman in the purple skirt but also helped her when society and other women turned against her. I think she had good intentions even though she had so many flaws? Then again, she is an unreliable narrator. I guess why the woman in the purple skirt took everything is that her innocence and trust was broken and never wanted to come back, yet the woman in the yellow cardigan wanted to be her friend, and hoped for her return one day, which is why she kept going to the park.
