I'm curious - I read How To Stop Time and enjoyed it well enough till near the end, where I felt that it deteriorated into a very tedious essay. I'm drawn to try this title, but reluctant to ride that same train again. Is this a good story, or just a lot of metaphysics wrapped around a character I won't be able to invest in, making an ultimate choice that doesn't really feel important?

Jennifer M The ending of The Midnight Library is similar, but the story up until the ending sermon is interesting. You could read all but the last 20-30 pages and call it a good book.
