Bonnie Yes, it's oxytocin!
Joanne I am pretty sure it's Oxytocin. It's called the love hormone.
Eileen Rodberg When I found out that the chemical formula on the headstone meant Oxytocin, I wondered why. Then I looked it up.

"...Our bodies also produce oxytocin when we’re excited by our sexual partner, and when we fall in love. That’s why it has earned the nicknames, "love hormone" and "cuddle hormone.""

The love hormone. She's so creative.
Jane It just says “opting instead for a chemical response that resulted in happiness.” Maybe serotonin and/or dopamine?
Bernadett Gosnell Oxytocin - I think the formula on the tombstone expresses EZ's pain and suffering for the loss and the transition to motherhood, where the lost love lives on in the offspring..
What is the function of oxytocin? The two main physical functions of oxytocin are to stimulate uterine contractions in labor and childbirth and to stimulate contractions of breast tissue to aid in lactation after childbirth.
Ragasudha I just crossed the part of the book and was curious to know the same, did a little math(counted the no of carbon, hydrogen and so on) and found that it's infact, the chemical structure of Oxytocin (C43H66N12O12S2) :)
