Infernal Father of Mine

Rate this book
EVERYBODY HAS DADDY ISSUES

Justin's reunion with his father starts with a punch to the face and their capture by Exorcists, a cult branch of the Templars supposedly disbanded centuries ago. The Exorcists banish Justin and his father, David, to the Gloom.

Fighting to escape exile, Justin discovers everything he knows about his father is a lie. Even worse, the man is a complete jackass who won't give a straight answer to the simplest of questions. But when they stumble upon a secret army being grown by one of Daelissa's minions, they realize much more than a healthy father-son relationship is at stake.

Justin and his father will have to escape the Gloom, bring back reinforcements, and crush the enemy before Daelissa marches her forces into the real world. Unfortunately, the army stands between them and freedom.

Daddy issues will have to wait. The war starts now.

Daddy Issues

Justin has rescued his mother, got his sister to trust him and now he wants to get his family back together. Easier said than done. Justin meets with his father and it could not have gone worse. Aside from his commitments to the Deomons, David is kind of a jerk. They go on an unplanned trip and have to work together to escape their fate. What a great read. So much more is revealed about Justin, who he really is and what he can do. This is a great followup in the series.

Just want more

The more I read, the more secrets are revealed, and sometimes I wonder is there an end to the web's of secrets and lies. Justin and gang are awesome, his mom and sister are finally with him and he gets sent to the gloom. But we find out some interesting things while he is there.

Amazing As always

His ability to invent edge of your seat situation’s time after time after time, and dragging everyone through no matter what the odds is so hypnotic that I cannot stop reading his books. Highly recommend.

As with other John Corwin books, I have to start this review with a disclaimer since I'm one of a handful of beta readers for John Corwin's books. With that said, the reason I read John Corwin's books both in advance and after publication is that I really enjoy them.

This book is a continuation in the Overworld Chronicles. Justin finally learns more about his father who is the the source of at least 1/2 of his powers, and develops a better understanding of the Gloom, a dimension between worlds that seems to be a dream version of Eden (earth). Justin receives a lot of help from his band of supernatural friends as well as his sister, who though still a bit scary has become part of the fold. Justin's entourage seems to be complete now that his whole family is part of the team working to fight Daelissa the evil Seraphim. Like the other books in this series there is plenty of action, lots of sarcastic wit, and more than a few Princess Bride references. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series to see if Justin can figure a way out of the dilemma keeping his parents from fully reuniting and save the world.

One of the worst in the series. Honestly if it was one of the earlier ones it would have made me stop reading the entire series.

Although I've been disappointed more and more by each new book in this series I'll probably end up finishing the last three books first before moving on to something else.

To be honest there's too much stuff I didn't like to even list here but one of the worst ones was at the start of the novel when it took less time for Elyssa and others to get surrounded by cop cars and a SWAT team then it took her to find Ivy's phone number. I mean come on it wasn't even a minute before they made the ATM spit out money and when the cops arrived at scene. If only the police responded that quickly in reality crime rate would drop!

I have enjoyed how John Corwin has progressed each book continuing to advance an incredibly elaborate story. I have not been let down yet by his writing and consistency within each consecutive book. Justin gets to finally get to know the who his father really is and what the truth is about his parents and his fathers plans to marry a woman other than his mom. In the beginning Justin sees his father as a complete jerk but once they are captured and sent to the Gloom by a group of rogue Templars called the Exercists. While trying to escape the Gloom they come face to face with some of Daelissa's minions and start to see just how many the will face in the coming battles. Great addition to the every progressing story and can not wait for the next book!

This is the 6th book from the Overworld Chronicles series. It is about Justin, a boy of a very interesting breed - his dad is a demon, and his mom is an angel.

In this book, Justin had just finished saving his mom and sister from an evil angel, and is about to meet up with his dad to talk about having a family reunion. During their heated conversation, they were ambushed by exorcists. Justin’s hatred towards his father slowly blossoms into a father-son bonding trip as they try to escape.

This is the second book I have read from this series and am loving it. It is full of action and jokes here and there. Definitely a great read. I might continue reading this series without reading the previous books in this series.

Just finished Infernal Father of Mine and I have to say I was impressed but not amazed by it. John Corwin changed so many facts in the book that I find it hard to digest. What we thought were true in the previous six books were completely changed in this addition (the secrets his Father told his mother). The father changed so much that I had a hard time reminding myself that it WAS his dad and not just a whole new character. I don't know...this book was okay but okay isn't what i'm looking for... I wanted so badly to be blown away and addicted like the first two books and book six but no...all i felt after i was done was "meh it was cool".

Awesome read!

I've read all the previous books in the series and am in awe over how John Corwin is able to keep building such an amazing story. There is NEVER a dull moment in ANY of the books. I'd love to see this brought to the small screen. I think it'd give Buffy the Vampire Slayer a run for its money.

This is one of those series that grabs a hold of you when you aren't looking and digs deep into your soul. I really love the world that John Corwin created and I have grown to love this misfit band of paranormal beings. I sucked down this installment and I am looking forward to moving on with the next one. I can't wait to see what happens next!!

Awesome author! He is so creative, making every book a treat to read. Sometimes when an author is this many books into a series, their work can become a little stale. Not so with John Corwin. Will have to check out his other books now.

Great Continuation of a Great Series!

Fantasy well done, as the author plays out another plot in a much larger conflict of this series. Well done!
